Today the boys - Micheal, Ben, Chase and Namir made "Balloon Powered Rockets". This great experiment which focuses on Newton's Law of Motion can be found on youtube at sciencefun.org It is great fun learning in Class 3 at Newcastle Middle School!

08.01.2022 Some photos from the festivities of Week 10 at Newcastle Middle School...
07.01.2022 Class 3 have really enjoyed reading the wonderful story resource called "10 Scattered Ants" by Lea Harlow. This is a brillant book which has been recommeded by the New South Wales Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. It is a counting book about many of our native animals and looks at each animal's habitat and how they move. The twist at the end of the story shows the 10 ants scattering quickly so they are not eaten by an Echidna. The 5 boys in class 3 made air dried clay echidnas with match stick spines and they all contributed to assembling a bush scene in which to place the echidnas and ants using a wide variety of natural and collage materials. I am sure you will agree the end result is amazing!

02.01.2022 This week was Ausgrid Electrical Safety Week (7th -11th September) and Newcastle Middle School participated in this state wide educational progam to teach our students about electricity and how to be safe around it. Class 3 identified many different appliances that use electricity and all the boys practised plugging them into a power point following the safety rules. They also created beautiful works of art using wax crayons, a hot glue gun and a hair dryer. The melted crayon art looked like colourful fountains, fireworks and rocket ships. Each student was awarded an Electrical Safety Participation Certificate and a student high bounce ball prize for their wonderful engagement in these lessons. Well done Class 3!
01.01.2022 Reconciliation Week continued at Newcastle Middle School on Friday when we all got together as a whole school around a campfire. Students had an opportunity to share stories they had written about themselves as well as reading out their Acknowledgement of Country that they had prepared as a class. We also shared damper and marshmallows over the fire. It was a great day outside together and thanks to Jackie for helping us throughout all the celebrations and learning this week.
