Andrew Fletcher said it's a conspiracy theory that the rail corridor WILL be built on.... And now the Labor lord mayor has joined the chorus (Wonder what she was prompted with? 14.01.2022 This page is dedicated to Newcastle, Civic & Wickham Stations that have been closed due to developers, as developers can't wait for the rail land. Edit 01:03:44 Tu 09 May 2017 It mainly shows what was the Newcastle Rail Line between Newcastle & Wickham Stations. The part of the rail line from Wickham to Broadmeadow may also be covered, if related.... While the rail line has been ripped up between Newcastle & Wickham, a lot of people are trying to get the "proposed" Newcastle light-rail put on the rail corridor, all the way to Newcastle Station.

01.01.2022 The former Wickham station is now mostly demolished, & if I saw the photos correctly on the Newcastle Herald website, so has the Wickham Station Signal Box been demolished. The issue with that is that BOTH are on the heritage list: http://tinyurl.com/yb2jau4j Wickham Station today: http://tinyurl.com/ya99yv8r... They could have used those platforms for the so called light rail depot. And the proposed so called tram depot is in the wrong place, if they plan to extend the tram network west.
