25.01.2022 We have been a bit quiet recently, like many, processing the major adjustment COVID-19 is bringing to our way of life. We decided early to transition to providing solely telehealth services to reduce the risk of community transmission ie. flatten the curve and feel so committed to providing support to existing and new clients during these uncertain times. If you or someone you know would benefit from mental health support, please get in touch with us. Bulk billed Telehealth sessions are now available for eligible clients ie diagnosed with COVID-19, in quarantine, pregnant, new parents, those with chronic health conditions, over 70 yo or Indigenous over 50yo. Were all in this together.

24.01.2022 Wonderful news-Melissa is now a Clinical Psychologist. This means more attractive rebates are now available for our clients, and this makes us very happy at New Door Psychology :D

21.01.2022 Wishing everyone a belated IDAHoBiT day-may the wonderful community celebrations extend across this sunny weekend

20.01.2022 Wouldn't it be great if we could recharge ourselves the same way we do our Smart phones? One key aspect of resilience is the ability to kick back, relax, and enjoy our leisure time. What will you do recharge your most valuable possession (you!) tonight? https://tenor.com/view/plug-life-sainsburys-gif-13023336

20.01.2022 Wishing all our lovely clients and community a Christmas of your own design- less guided by outside expectations, and more full of the things that truly nourish and rejuvenate you from the inside out

20.01.2022 We’ve been quiet for a while as we pivot with the changing pandemic climate. Raising our heads up to wish everyone a happy (slightly belated) International Non-Binary People’s Day. We hope you feel respected, loved and seen for the wonderful people you are.

17.01.2022 It's been an exciting few weeks at New Door Psychology Headquarters with both Naomi and Melissa attending highly inspiring training recently (on a motorbike for extra fun!). We are also excited to announce that Melissa is now a member of the Antenatal and Postnatal Psychology Network so feel free to check out their website and Facebook page to learn more, or even better, get in touch! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. https://www.antenatalandpostnatalpsychology.com.au/melissa-

16.01.2022 "And you gave me love/When I could not love myself And you made me turn/From the way I saw myself And you're patient, love/And you help me help myself And you save me, And you save me, Yeah you save me". Gotye's gorgeous song 'Save Me' (check out the link in the comments section) explores the deep gratitude of being helped by another person during a low and challenging time. As we know, carers very much need care too. If you're a carer and need extra support to keep supporting someone in your life, please check out the services below to help look after yourself.

15.01.2022 Wearing purple today (the one purple top and earrings!) in solidarity with LGBTIQ+ youth today (and always). We’re right here with you

14.01.2022 Postnatal Anxiety has been in the shadows when compared to awareness around Postnatal Depression. It's 3 times as likely as PND and can have a huge impact on life for mum and bub/s (and everyone involved). If Postnatal (or perinatal) Anxiety is limiting your life, please reach out to receive the help you need and deserve. You don't have to soldier on alone.

13.01.2022 Clients often find it helpful to learn about their Attachment Style -that is, their pattern of relating to others in the context of close relationships. This can be the starting point for understanding the impact of their attachment style on their wellbeing and relationships, and healing towards a more secure way of relating. Feel free to complete the test below to learn more about yourself.

12.01.2022 Beaming as we celebrate this wonderful news for our clients and community!

12.01.2022 A glorious dance this morning got us thinking about how movement moves more than our bodies- it can also move our mood. "Changing your posture, breathing, and rhythm can all change your brain, thereby reducing stress, depression, and anxiety, and lead to a feeling of well-being". Check out this article to explore how movement might move you towards greater well-being -and even self-esteem.

09.01.2022 A truth to get a ‘handle’ of...

09.01.2022 Did you know? Clients within areas subject to lockdowns (check the time periods) are eligible for a further 10 Medicare rebated sessions in addition to their original care plan. Mental health matters during this challenging year (more than ever!)and you deserve more support to equal the challenges. Speak with your GP about a review after session 10 and keep investing in your wellbeing.

08.01.2022 5:1. That's the magic ratio of positive feelings or interactions to negative feelings or interactions in a stable, happy and healthy relationship, according to science. Check out the article below for ideas on how to create this magical balance in your own relationship (Tip: Being playful is one of them). https://www.extension.purdue.edu/extmedia/cfs/cfs-744-w.pdf

07.01.2022 A round of applause for the 'Pause!'. A new feature just installed in the You V.2.0. to help all your words and actions reflect your best self. Also known as Mindfulness, you can download the 'Smiling Mind' app to get yours today.

07.01.2022 Did you know that progesterone (sex hormone responsible for supporting pregnancy) and cortisol (stress hormone) are made from the same ingredients (pregnenolone)? What does this mean for anyone trying to conceive? Our bodies will always prioritise coping with stress over nurturing a pregnancy (because you can't thrive if you don't survive!), stealing the ingredients away from building progesterone to create cortisol instead. How do you steal your fertility back? Amongst other natural remedies such as adaptogens, a key support for healthy progesterone levels is stress management. Talk to Melissa about how you can protect your body from this hormonal theft and keep your fertility hormones happy and healthy.

07.01.2022 Welcome to New Door Psychology

07.01.2022 La Trobe University's recent study offers some insights into Bisexual Mental Health in Australia, with biphobia (including internalized biphobia), erasure and invisibility contributing to poor mental health for bisexual Australians. Please get in touch if these issues are affecting you as we are right with you to help you feel self-acceptance, recognition and belonging.

07.01.2022 One of our all-time favourite TED talks is from Brené Brown about 'The power of vulnerability'. So many mind-expanding quotes from a former vulnerability-phobe. For example, "Vulnerability is the core of shame and fear, but it is also the birthplace of joy, happiness, creativity, belonging and love.". And... "You are imperfect and wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging." Listen to the whole 20 minutes to help open your mind and heart, and feel free to share your favourite lines with us below.

06.01.2022 Queer parents and parents-to-be, we 'get it' at New Door Psychology. We offer an inclusive service where we understand where you're coming from, and accept you as you are (we will always use your preferred pronouns, and we have a gender neutral bathroom for all). Looking forward to meeting you if you need to see a Psychologist.

02.01.2022 Wishing understanding, belonging and well-being to everyone identifying as non-binary - today and always!

02.01.2022 A brilliant TED talk which captures the importance of timely intervention and acceptance for trans teens
