16.01.2022 'Due to climate change, pesticide use and plant loss, bees are dying. There are more than 20,000 species of bee around the world, and researchers created the first global map of those bee species to save them from dying. The research leveraged millions of public bee occurrence records and global bee distribution data. To develop their maps, researchers combined data from more than 5.8 million public bee occurrence records with a checklist of the distribution of over 20,000 bee species accessible online at the biodiversity portal DiscoverLife.org.' https://edition.cnn.com//first-global-map-bee-species-scn-

11.01.2022 One of the most exciting projects I've been involved with is right at the point of co-creation. Protected Habitat Farmers Mutual is unlocking the opportunity for every Australian farm to protect our ecosystems. 3 Things Farmers Want To Know:... 1. This isn’t a new broker in the environmental markets. A mutual is different. By individual farmers co-owning the mutual, and using the services, each farmer gets scale and reduced costs when accessing environmental markets. A mutual avoids the corporate middlemen - and their fees - meaning the farmer earns more for doing the stewardship. 2. This isn't about locking up land under permanent covenants. There are plenty of term agreements (10 - 15 years). 3. This isn't about locking animals out either. Every Protected Habitat agreement refers to "best practice" and if that includes grazing for example, then, that is encouraged. To help co-create this mutual visit https://ethicalfields.com/protected-habitat/ #protectedhabitat #stewardship #environment #farmers #mutuals
