15.01.2022 Our friends from Armidale’s own chamber choir, FIORI MUSICALI, are excited to return to the stage performing two masterpieces from the pen of the great baroque composer, George Frederic Handel. Accompanied by some of Armidale’s finest string players, the 30 strong choir will sing Handel’s glorious Coronation Anthem ‘Let thy Hand Be Strengthened’. This will be followed by the electrifying 5 part Vesper psalm Dixit Dominus, which Handel wrote in Italy aged just 21.... Also on the programme is J S Bach’s magnificent E minor flute sonata. 10.01.2022 This morning senior students from the New England Singers performed the beautiful Gostwyck by Luke Byrne at the 100th anniversary of the Dangarsleigh Memorial. This piece reflects on the soldiers who gave their lives during WW1 and was written following the composer’s attendance at the 2016 ANZAC Service at the Dangarsleigh Memorial.

08.01.2022 NECOM’s first Xmas Choral Concert on the lawns was a huge hit on Saturday 21 November audiences loved the outdoor setting. Minisingers, Cantilena and NE Singers performed brilliantly, specially our traditional finale of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer featuring Santa and a snow machine. 04.01.2022 MISSING LIVE MUSIC? SO ARE WE! Restrictions around public gatherings and music performance has seen the cancellation of thousands of public concerts and music education activities across NSW. The outcome is that many companies may collapse and countless musicians have lost their livelihoods. These restrictions are often confusing and inconsistent across different regions and local government areas. NSW’s musicians and music educators are doing something about this. They have ...formed the biggest coalition of music organisations ever seen that will work with the state government to find a way to resume singing, playing, listening and learning music together safely. NECOM, along with NSW’s other regional conservatoriums, is part of the coalition of 19 leading band, choral and music education organisations that will meet with the NSW Minister for Health, Brad Hazzard, and Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant next week. 03.01.2022 NEW ENGLAND SINGERS WEEKLY CHALLENGE Congratulations to India Smith who recently won the weekly chocolate bar for her pretty smart warmup video for the New England Singers. Zoom rehearsals for all NECOM choirs are continuing throughout this term so everyone can keep on singing despite restrictions the commitment and focus of our choristers and conductors are amazing!

02.01.2022 NECOM features in regional TELSTRA advert If you catch the latest Telstra advert currently on regional TV you will see two familiar faces - NECOM’s Head of Strings Joanna Fairs-Wu and her student India Smith. NECOM was invited to take part in the filming and it was a great opportunity to promote Armidale’s cultural life, real music making and NECOM! 01.01.2022 Check out these fabulous photos of our Foundation ensembles performing in the lovely courtyard at NERAM last night. Families enjoyed viewing the Hinton Collection at the gallery before being treated to a sausage sizzle and concert by the Thunderbolt Percussion, Puddledock Strings, Tilbuster Winds and Boorolong Strings.
