25.01.2022 Well done Hesket Kerrie CFA Brigade! But if you’re going camping, make sure you fully extinguish your fire so something worse doesn’t happen!

25.01.2022 Urban Fringe Grassfires - Am I At Risk? Although Newham is a small town, we still need to be aware! Grassfires can start anywhere and spread quickly. ... If a grassfire starts, walk at least two streets back from the fire. If you live two or three streets away from grassland and a grassfire starts, stay where you are. Never drive if you can see smoke or fire. Thick smoke will make it hard to see and traffic jams and accidents are likely. Keep roads clear for emergency services. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-pr/grassfires-near-cities-and-towns

25.01.2022 Unfortunately another case of covid has been identified from Coles Woodend

15.01.2022 Covid-19 and CFA training As a brigade we have begun our mandatory entrapment training whilst also practicing social distancing. Entrapment training is in place in the event of a burn over. We practice this every year before the fire season begins so this becomes second nature to us. ... In line with Covid restrictions, we only allow 4 members and 1 trainer at a time, you can also see our members and trainer standing apart. Even with Covid-19 we still need to train and be prepared for the upcoming fire season. We are slowly getting through training for our members and making sure everyone is up to date on training and ready for the season.

07.01.2022 Understanding Warnings and Emergency Information You should never wait to receive an official warning before you leave. Fires can start quickly and threaten homes and lives within minutes. Understand the levels of warnings and don’t expect warnings to be issued in any particular order. The first warning you may get could be an Emergency Warning.

06.01.2022 Unfortunately a staff member at Coles Woodend has returned a positive Covid19 test. The store has undergone a deep clean to be able to return to business. Please ensure you are practicing social distancing, regularly washing your hands, and staying home and isolating if you are unwell. Please also ensure you are checking in on residents who are in a high risk category. A phone call is preferable over a visit, and if you are helping out and delivering groceries etc, leave them at the door and talk from a distance.
