08.01.2022 Vale Nick Massie. It is with deep sadness that Newham Mechanics Institute shares the news of the passing of our long-standing committee member Nick Massie who sadly passed away at home last week. Nick had been a member of our committee for numerous years and acted in many roles, most recently as Treasurer and Booking Officer.... He will be greatly missed, not just by the Mechanics Institute, but by the Newham Community as a whole, where Nick was an integral part of a number of community organisations including Landcare and the Newham Boars. A kind and loving man, who was generous with his time and knowledge for all who asked and faced his health challenge with great strength and courage. He will be profoundly missed. Peace after suffering. A private funeral will be held on Thursday (Aug 27, 2020) at 10.00am. Randy has written and performed eight solo stand-up comedy shows, released four comedy specials, played sold out seasons in London and New York and been nominated for Best Comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We have been unable to find a suitable date when all the wonderful comics we had lined up were available.... We will be looking to put on a Comedy night later in the year, so stay tuned.
