16.02.2022 The last newsletter for 2021 was published yesterday. It contains a wrap up of the year along with details and photos of recent activities, events and achievements as well as important information for the remainder of this year and 2022.

05.02.2022 Yesterday we farewelled our Year 6 students with a high tea, a procession through the main gate at the end of the day, followed by graduation in the evening. We wish them all the best for their transition to secondary school and wherever life may take them. Graduation would not have been possible without contributions from the following people and organisations: Sarah - decorations, Corrina - graduation cake & mini year 6's, Newham General Store - high tea, Bunnings Warehouse - pots & plants. Thank you all so much. Thank you also to our Year 6 teachers Jacqueline and Libby who made it all happen.

22.01.2022 We are very proud of our sustainability team leaders who are attending this years kids teaching kids virtual conference to talk about our frog bog, keeping frogs safe and to help other schools design their own. Good luck!

22.01.2022 Vale Nick Massie Sadly, last week a treasured member of the Newham community passed away. Nick Massie has been the hub of our community for many years. I have spoken to a few members past and present in our school community to create a picture of this selfless man who helped make Newham such a special place to live and work in. Each person I spoke to said the same thing. He was gracious, generous and always a joy to see. He was always available to share his wealth of knowledg...e of government regulations to assist any local projects such as the planning and development of our amazing school multipurpose court and the upgrade of our community hall to a venue that has supported many famous artists and local community events. Nick could always be found at any community group that was gathered with the aim of making Newham a great place to be in. He was always gracious and generous with his time, getting involved in school working bees, community working bees, sharing his time and expertise freely. He will be missed. Our love and support go to Sue and his family. Thank you Nick for helping to make Newham such a beautiful place to live in and our school such a great place for students to play and learn. 21.01.2022 Year 3/4 students enjoyed an action packed day of outdoor activities at Camp Sunnystones on the 7th December. It looks like it hit the mark!

21.01.2022 With the change in seasons it might be time to look at uniform items. If you require new uniform or a new hat (compulsory), they can be purchased directly from our supplier eduThreads. A black skort is an addition to the range which might appeal to some rather than a dress, leggings or shorts. We still have some new old stock available for purchase at discounted prices from the school (see below). We also have new school hats available and some second hand items. Please contact the school if you wish to purchase any of these.

21.01.2022 Dear parents and carers, As I have previously mentioned, in line with eased restrictions in regional Victoria, students in standalone primary schools (Newham PS) will be returning to school in the first week of term 4. ALL Newham Primary School students will return to onsite learning on TUESDAY 6th of OCTOBER.... There will be a Staff professional planning day on MONDAY 5th of OCTOBER, this day will be PUPIL FREE. This will allow ALL staff to attend on-site and provide the time they need and deserve to reset and plan. It also means that we can avoid a staggered return of students throughout the week. I know the return to school will be a huge relief to you all and we are very excited to be coming back right at the beginning of term to return to face to face learning and teaching for term 4. There is a lot to do in this coming term and of course in this environment things could still change quite quickly. I will keep you well informed of any changes over the school holidays but let's all HOPE FOR THE BEST and look forward to a wonderful term 4 at school! Again I would like to thank everyone for your support and patience. Enjoy your upcoming holidays with a little more freedom and continue to stay safe and well! Simone Wood

17.01.2022 Not long now and we will all be back on site! Just a couple more sleeps to go!!! Confirming our end of term newsletter, Tuesday 6th October is the first day of term for Newham Primary school students. It will be very exciting and satisfying to have everyone back in the beautiful spring weather. Please don't forget to bring a named drink bottle for refilling at school and a hat for our sun smart term. Once again students will be required to hand sanitize as they come through ...the gates. As yet, there have been no Term 4 DET changes to the rest of our Term 3 precautions. All the staff are looking forward to seeing everyone again and we hope that you all managed to find some restful time for yourselves over the term break. See you on Tuesday!

16.01.2022 Last week's School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB), whole school celebration was a hit. Tie-dyeing day! There was lots of excitement and mess making, tying and retying of shirts before final decisions were made. Students and staff got to show them off on Friday. Thanks to Kerry, our SWPB co-ordinator, for organising the celebration which finally went ahead after numerous disruptions this year.

10.01.2022 The school would very much like community help. Over the last weekend someone was on the school property and left our sports shed with its doors bent up. This was done so that they could access our equipment. If you see anyone over the school holidays hanging around the school could you please let the local police know, so that they can drive by on occasion and it check out. Community members who have paid a membership to the Multi-purpose court are now allowed on the school grounds to use the court only. Membership holders will be informed of the hygiene requirements for court use. The rest of the school remains out of bounds after hours to the community or general public.

05.01.2022 Kitchen Garden News After much consideration it’s with the deepest regret that I won’t be able to run the Kitchen Garden program for Newham Primary School in 2021. Like many people, this year has brought change to different areas of my life, some good and some not so good. Due to these changes I’ve decided it is in the best interests of my family and my health if I reduce the number of responsibilities that require my attention. Out of all the jobs I’ve ever worked in this h...Continue reading

05.01.2022 Our students have been busy during remote learning. Here's a snapshot of some Junior Unit Potion Writing.

04.01.2022 Yesterday our Year 6 student leaders ran a Remembrance Day service at school and one minute silence was observed by all students and staff on-site. Poppies were placed at the base of the Memorial Rock following the service. Well done to our Year 6 students for providing a beautiful and respectful service. Thank you to all families who were able to contribute to the Poppy Appeal through the school. This year marks the 100th year of the Poppy Appeal. Items will be available next week until collected by the Woodend RSL.

02.01.2022 How lucky are we to have these beautiful creatures in our community?! Please take care on Dons Road as they are actively on the move. There are also a few duck families so please be on the look out.

02.01.2022 COVID-19 Update As of today, community groups and the local community are not permitted to use the school facilities, including the playgrounds, school grounds, multipurpose court or oval. Signs stating that the grounds are restricted will be placed at the gates and playgrounds. We would appreciate everyones co-operation in this regard to help maintain the health and safety of all.... Thank you
