24.01.2022 STORMY ROCK broke his maiden in superb fashion at Kembla Grange Racecourse on Thursday afternoon for the Matthew Dunn Racing stable. The son of Coolmore Stud's dual Champion Sire Fastnet Rock was well backed in the Dean Industrial Maiden Hcp over 1000m with Kerrin McEvoy booked for the ride. He jumped well and raced on the pace to break clear from the 200m for a 4.5 length victory, beating joint-favourite Glock. Out of More Than Ready (USA) stakes-winner Blizzardly, Stormy Ro...ck is a half brother to the Newhaven Park bred Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Unencumbered, who sadly passed away in 2018 after standing 4 seasons at stud at Three Bridges Thoroughbreds. Stormy Rock clearly demonstrated that he possesses similar attributes with an impressive turn of foot in yesterday's emphatic win. Bred at Newhaven Park, he was sold at the 2017 Inglis Chairman's Sale for $200,000 to Lucas Bloodstock as agent for Phoenix Thoroughbreds who later sold to Matthew Dunn and Neil Jenkinson at the 2018 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. Stormy Rock has had 3 starts for one win and only beaten a nose into second at his last start at Warwick Farm. It looks as if there is plenty more in store for him. Congratulations to the winning owners Peachester Lodge, Glenlogan Park, Ms Keira Dunn and all connections! #ourbrandyoursuccess

15.01.2022 The hunt is on for Australia’s most talented and bold horse riders to become the first intake of the ‘Accelerator Program’ a 12-week intensive trackwork train...ing course that will see participants critiqued and mentored by the best jockeys in the game, including Hugh Bowman, Glen Boss, Tommy Berry, Kathy O’Hara, Nash Rawiller, Rachel King, Sam Clipperton, and Kerrin McEvoy. Hall of Fame retired jockey Darren Beadman, will also be overseeing the progression of the riders throughout the program. Trainees will live on campus at Western Sydney University's Richmond base while receiving intensive training and education on exercising racehorses by a team of experienced instructors, before graduating with a qualification that will open doors to Australia's leading stables. Employment upon completion of the program is guaranteed. Recently returning to Sydney from Hong Kong, jockey Sam Clipperton said this is a unique opportunity to pursue an exhilarating career, whilst learning from the best in the business. We all think we've got the best job in the world; riding the fastest horses for a living. The Accelerator Program is about creating opportunities to become a part of that. If you've always wondered what it would be like to ride some of the world's best racehorses and get paid to do it - whether you're into bull riding or showjumping like I was, this is your chance to start the journey." The Accelerator Program is the latest offering from Thoroughbred Industry Careers (TIC), a not-for-profit which is aiming to secure the long-term future of the thoroughbred industry by raising the curtain on careers and creating more pathways for people to become involved. Arrowfield Stud, Chris Waller Racing, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott Racing, Godolphin, Lindsay Park Racing, McEvoy Mitchell Racing, and The Australian Turf Club united to form TIC in 2018 for the betterment of the industry. Applications for the Accelerator Program open on July 11 and close on 21 August 2020 and is open to Australian residents. The program will commence on the 14th of September 2020. 09.01.2022 TIC Takes Up Recruitment Reins for the Thoroughbred Industry Thoroughbred Industry Careers (TIC) is proud to announce it will continue its partnership with Pony... Club Australia as the named sponsors of their National Championships, to be held this September at the Benalla Equestrian Reserve in Victoria. The event, which attracts the best young riders from right across the country, presents TIC with a prime opportunity to promote careers in the Thoroughbred industry and source potential trainees and future employees for the industry. A new Ride to Time competition will be introduced to the event this year which will further strengthen the synergies between horse racing and equestrians. TIC Chief Executive Lindy Maurice said that directly reaching the grassroots is an imperative step towards building a strong domestic workforce for the future. "The results from the Explorer Program have been quite astonishing. We are sitting on a great reservoir of talent in Australia and TIC is taking up the reins to reach them and give them an opportunity to succeed. "By sponsoring events like the Pony Club National Championships, we can plant the seed in young people’s minds that there is a career with horses in our industry waiting for them," said Ms Maurice. CEO of Pony Club Australia, Dr Catherine Ainsworth, said she was thrilled with the ongoing support of TIC as naming rights sponsor of its biggest event of the year. Our connection with TIC has been borne out in many ways over the past three years. We have seen many Pony Club members go through the TIC cadetship program. It is fantastic for our members to be able to turn their love of horses, and all of the horsemanship knowledge that they have gained during their years with us, into a career, said Dr Ainsworth. This year’s championships will run from September 26 until October 2 and include state selections for the disciplines of mounted games, tetrathlon, showjumping, dressage, eventing and horsemanship quiz. The 2021 PCA National Championships are really important this year after such a period of lockdown across Australia. Our members report that being able to ride and spend time with their horses has been a real benefit to them when other parts of life were missing, she said.
