16.01.2022 * Meet the team * Carlo DiMartino has been a valuable member of the Newhaven team for over 3 years now. Originally from Tasmania, with Italian family heritage, Carlo and his family came to the Gold Coast for that sea change that so many others from across the country look for and find right here. ... Carlo has always worked in people focused roles since he left school and his greatest motivator has always been to be of service to others and give back to the community. This included being a volunteer fire fighter back in Tasmania. Working with families to assist them with bushfire safety plans. When Carlo meets a family who have entrusted Newhaven Funerals with the care of their loved one, his main focus is to connect with them to ensure he is offering as personalised a service as possible. Beyond the funeral service, Carlo has maintained communication with several of the families he has served, making sure to check in with them days, weeks, months and even years after the service. Newhaven Funerals are grateful to have Carlo assisting and attentively caring for the every need of the families in our care at a difficult time in their lives. Thank you Carlo

02.01.2022 * National Police Remembrance Day * In commemoration of National Police Remembrance Day, police, their families and community members will pause on Tuesday, September 29 to pay tribute to fallen officers. National Police Remembrance Day is held every year to honour police officers across the country who have lost their lives and ensure the integrity, courage and bravery of their ultimate sacrifice is never forgotten.... In Brisbane, this day is usually marked by a march through the CBD, followed by a service. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and concerns for the community’s safety, things will be a little different for the commemorative activities. Unfortunately, there will be no march or public service held this year. The Queensland Police Service instead invites you to remember alongside them by joining in the viewing of a live streamed service on National Police Remembrance Day. THE LIVE STREAM STARTS AT 10AM AND CAN BE FOUND BY CLICKING THE LINK: https://mypolice.qld.gov.au//national-police-remembrance-/ For more information on National Police Remembrance Day in Queensland, please visit the QPS National Police Remembrance Day site here. https://www.police.qld.gov.au//national-police-remembrance #policeremembranceday #queenslandpoliceservice
01.01.2022 Halloween driver safety tips While October the 31st is a date associated with scares and frights, there’s no reason for the horrors to extend to the roads. But, unfortunately, this popular family occasion is often associated with an increase in crashes. Here are some reminders to driving safely this Halloween:... Assume all residential areas will have children on the streets Use headlights, even at dusk Drive well under the posted speed limit, particularly on curves Look out for children entering the road from stopped/parked vehicles Take extra care when entering/exiting driveways and turning into roads Use turn signals to indicate your intentions Yield to children Expect children to cross the road where they shouldn’t and without checking that it’s safe Stay focused. Avoid distractions such as phones, interacting with GPS, eating and drinking Don’t consume any alcohol if you’re driving; impairment begins below the legal drink-driving limit Have a safe Halloween
