11.02.2022 Thank you Ahmad for your kind words. It’s this kind of feedback that drives us on every day. This and many other reviews on our services can be found at- http://bit.ly/NHIprrev
04.02.2022 The sad state of the domestic building industry when those supposedly supervising the works allow this kind of noncompliance to go on
25.01.2022 Just a little short?
25.01.2022 Clearly it’s a communication thing or is it just us expecting to much...... at least everything’s nicely painted and finished!!
22.01.2022 Paving FAIL You would have to work at getting this job this horribly wrong! Exposed slab edge all the way around above the paving when there was plenty of room to raise it up to the brickwork - but clearly there was a saving on crushed rock here And how they will seal those 40-50mm gaps between the walls and paving will be a challenge for any caulker A clear case of ‘not my problem!’
21.01.2022 OFF WHITE MORTAR.. Getting this Correct. One of the biggest points of disagreement our clients seem to have with their builders is when they have upgraded to ‘Off White’ mortar a description that is extremely broad at best. The accompanying photographs are from such a home, where the client has paid their builder an additional $720:00 for ‘Off White’ mortar, detailed in the tender as ‘Provide off white coloured mortar joints with off white cement in lieu of standard’.... So what is ‘Off White’.. really it’s any colour that isn’t white, isn’t it!!! And the use of Orange sand can hardly help with that Off White finish can it!! Our advice to anyone considering this type of joint colour would be to seek clarity from their builder with either a colour swab or a specific Display home of the expected finish that could be relied upon or used as a reference for the expected finish/colour, should any discrepancy arise at completion.
21.01.2022 So we got a message from our lovely Office ladies this afternoon.... ‘the SS wants you to make sure you lock the front door as you leave as they won’t be coming back today’ so as we do, we made sure the lock was snibbed..... but we sure hope that bucket holds up if anyone tries to break in given there are no flush bolts fitted to the fixed door Wonder how long it’s been since the SS was on site
20.01.2022 We stand in awe of the skill it must of taken to trim this vanity base out so neatly to slip that 40mm pipe through.....
19.01.2022 Another day another Final inspection with the C of O issued and this........ this is what you can expect when no one looks, because it’s easier to rely on a flawed paper trail
18.01.2022 Today’s Final..... not sure whether this was for us or some other more furry type vermin Keep smiling everyone
18.01.2022 Not where the nail should end up!!!
17.01.2022 If this isn’t the only justification a consumer needs when building their new home to engage an independent Quality Inspector, then we don’t know what is! During a Pre Plaster inspection we carried out last week we identified the cavity flashing required at the base of all brick veneers walls to drain them of any water and moisture, was missing from these two Units! We wrote this up in our report only to have the Builder respond with the justification for his omission (and ig...norance) was that he’d done it this way on his last 15 jobs.. we kid you not!! We’ve attached his email confirming this was his point (obviously with any identifying data either removed or blanked out) and our further response, which you can view via this link:- http://bit.ly/NHI-dpc we’ve also added the extract of our report for you.
15.01.2022 Just a waste of clients money....... both sites have had site cuts carried out with retaining walls installed on either side of the common boundary, which are only retaining each other!!!! We’re guessing the builders theory is at least they’re making a nice $$ mark up on it? Ching Ching......
13.01.2022 Some quality wood butchery by the plumbers on this Friday arvo job Clearly wall braces are overrated in their universe and surely 90mm studs are way to wide for their own good. This hack job would have occurred after the frames approval and the Surveyor won’t be back until the Final when this is all covered over .............
13.01.2022 Draft sealing the external doors on your New Home when the builders budgets a bit tight Ready for Handover.....
08.01.2022 Now we’d be the first to admit this was one of our more successful Pre Contract Document Reviews but it just goes to show what can be achieved with the right advice, support and determination. Know what it is you’re signing up for the good, the bad and the ugly! About our Pre Contract Document Reviews:- http://bit.ly/NHI-PCDR... About this Online Review:- http://bit.ly/NHI-PreC
08.01.2022 It’s clearly never to late to install that drain line!!! Who says it should be done before plastering
05.01.2022 Next generation trough clips.... most likely won’t work but we’d guess that’s why they have a Maintenace department
04.01.2022 Some quality insulation work on this afternoon’s Pre Plaster inspection Clearly they were running a bit short so thought they’d split the batts down their thickness to make they go a bit further About 25mm should do it!!
03.01.2022 Either a new form of room ventilation or whoever rehung the doors in this house needs to check their work a bit more thoroughly
02.01.2022 We’ve found ourselves gathering a little extra time on our hands, with the sites that are still operating starting to slow a little, so for the remainder of our Lockdown time and through to the end of September we’re offering a better than 20% discount off our Pre Contract document reviews. For this Special Price we’ll highlight to you the good, the bad and the ugly hidden away in the builders documents before you sign them For those of you who will only be starting your New Home journey after we move out of lockdown, please pay heed to our post from August last year- http://bit.ly/NHI-Aug19 before you commit to a builder! You can download a copy of our Pre Contract flyer here- https://bit.ly/NHI-PCDR
01.01.2022 Covid-19 Construction at its best Electrician and plumber get the position of their services run-ins wrong why place them in the wall when they can be a metre into the Bedroom!!! Site Supervisor gets advised of the issue the night before the pour by the clients private QA inspector, which would normally spark a thought to have them moved before the concrete is poured. well, one would expect that a normal logically thinking person would have had that kind of a thought ... but no, not this Site Supervisor, who has clearly taken the working from home direction a little toooo far. you are allowed to go to site buddy you are the Site Supervisor At least it would appear that he did take the time to instruct the Concreters to finish the concrete off neatly around this area so the clients don’t stub their toes on any rough edges as they get into bed!! But wait there’s more just to ensure he has peaked with his ineptness and has butchered this client slab enough, he then allows the electricians to cut through the slabs edge beam to position the electrical service run-in correctly even we struggle to understand the thought process behind this one
