10.01.2022 Revelation 19 "Victory over Babylon and Her allies"

10.01.2022 It was over 50 years ago yet I can remember it like it was yesterday. The old ramshackle farmhouse would groan in the gentle breeze as the wind slipped through the cracks and the fire blazed in the stone hearth. Outside the western sun slipped slowly beneath the blue tinged mountains that surrounded our farm, and the stars appeared like scattered candles in an ink black dark night. The Sabbath was hastening on and inside our family was gathered around the fire - aunty Dossie..., grandma and grandpa, dad and mum, and three little boys. Dad would get out his saxophone, Dossie would be on the piano, and grandma was on the violin. Shall We Gather at the River was followed by Marching to Zion and other old Adventist hymns. On the floor me and 2 other little boys sat cross legged singing, and surrounded by love that gently directed our eyes upward to heaven where we caught a glimpse of Jesus. As the singing wound down we would gather around dad and he would tell us stories from the Bible, our imaginations flying far away to great battles, mighty heroes, and a God who never lost. Opening Sabbath always concluded with The Lord's Prayer. Sabbath had arrived and now we rushed to get to the table where my mum had cooked up a feast of mashed potatoes, corn and peas, and those mouth watering gluten steaks in brown gravy. This was the best meal of the week and it always followed opening Sabbath. This is it how it worked in the Grolimund house. Before Sabbath the shoes were shined, the house cleaned, rooms tidied, cars washed, and food cooked. When Sabbath came everything stopped, worship followed by fellowship and feasting began. Sabbath was a highlight, it was different, holy, special, and a time of God, family, church, and warm, warm fellowship - a marvellous time of celebration look forward too and never missed. Sabbath was never about the law to me. Not was it about the mark of the beast, or testing, or faithfulness, or prophecy - it was simple, about Jesus, my family, my church, my friends, and rest. It was Jesus calling us all together and I shall never forget it. How blessed and privileged I was to come from a family like mine. They never gave me riches, or big holidays, or fancy houses - but what they did give me was Jesus - and on the Sabbath I experienced Him in His most powerful and pure form. It's why today, more than 50 years later I remain a Sabbath keeper. I still seek time with the God of my fathers and the Jesus of my infancy. And He's still coming and blessing my family and me. The Sabbath in Jesus is truly a beautiful and very special gift. It really was made for man and I truly get that. Happy Sabbath - Maranatha - not long now!

06.01.2022 Dr Pandit - Evolution & Skeptics 3

04.01.2022 Hi New Hope Just a quick note to say hi and remind you of a couple of things. 1. Please ensure you remember to social distance at church. We are supposed to stay at least 1.5 m from each other when talking and socialising. I know it is hard, but it is the law and we need to continue to adhere to it in cooperation.... 2. Dr Pandit (USA, India) is concluding his little series with us this Sabbath @ 10am. He is a fascinating man with a wealth of knowledge and a great defence of Christianity and Adventism. If you have not heard him yet, make sure you turn up to church on time to enjoy what I think is one of the highlights of our church year in 2020. 3. PLEASE remember ADRA drop in centre and bring some non-perishable or canned food to church this Sabbath and leave it in the foyer near the front door. Many, many people in our area are short on food, children are going hungry, and they need our support to be able to effectively help these poor people. This is very important, so please, please, please take this seriously and consider helping out if you can. May you have a very happy Sabbath. See you at church tomorrow for a great day of worship as we celebrate the goodness of a living God. Warm regards Lloyd Pastor New Hope 0406774673
