"...the United Nations recognizes that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. The Agenda also calls for a spirit of strengthened global solidarity, focused in particular on the needs of the p...oorest and most vulnerable." 22.01.2022 This week at Newlake Toastmasters, we knocked the rust off our speaking skills with fun tales of our summer holiday adventures. Word of the week was Gimmick (a strategy for gaining attention, often an eccentric strategy). Three speakers managed to use it; well done!

20.01.2022 Congratulations to our 2019-20 Newlake Toastmasters Club humorous and table topics winners - Trevor and Lindi (respectively)! See them compete in the Area 23 contest on 29 February 2020.

16.01.2022 Tuesday night 26 February (this week): see you at Edgeworth Sport and Recreation Club, 1A Park Street (Edgeworth NSW). 7pm. Here (or give) interesting prepared speeches, have a go at off-the-cuff impromptu speaking, and get positive evaluative feedback. Check out the excellent educational program that will have your confidence and speaking skills developing as fast as you want to go.

13.01.2022 Regrettably Newlake Toastmasters has had to close down. Other local clubs you can look at joining after the COVID restrictions are lifted are Wallsend (Thursday nights), Hunter Gourmet (meets at Argenton Saturday nights once a month) or Toronto (meets at Argenton every Wednesday). During the COVID lockdown, many clubs are meeting online including Hunter Gourmet, Dynamic Dora Creek, Coastal Communicators, Cessnock and many others here or anywhere in the world!

10.01.2022 Are you interested in international diplomacy? Are you interested in world peace? This Tuesday (23 October), Newlake's meeting theme will be "United Nations Day". The Charter of the United Nations was signed on 26 June 1945 to ensure international peace and enable nations to work together to solve international problems. Join us at Edgeworth Sport and Recreation Club 1A Park St, Edgeworth, from 7pm to explore the many aspects of this theme, to learn speaking and leadership skills.

See you on the 25th September from 7pm or earlier for dinner. Anyone interested in learning speaking and leadership skills are also very welcome to attend.
