21.01.2022 Prince is a sprightly Jack Russell who we met earlier this year to remove some skin cancers. In a stroke of bad luck, he has recently been diagnosed with a second (different) type of cancer an inoperable brain tumour. Please open the link to read his story, as his dedicated owners are raising money for Prince to receive radiotherapy to try and shrink the tumour. We have been humbled by how his owners have given everything they can towards him so far, and we have all fallen in love with Prince. We don’t normally share things like this, but we feel that this is the best way we can help this brave boy https://www.gofundme.com/f/cancer-treatment-for-prince

Big thanks to Helping Hearts Animal Rescue for looking after them and bringing them in! Surgeon Emma scrubs up while Genelle is in charge of post surgery cuddles! Now to find them their forever homes ...

16.01.2022 This is Aladdin, a Netherland dwarf rabbit who came in for treatment of an infection and blockage in his tear duct. Part of his treatment involved flushing the tear duct with a tiny catheter, which then drains into the back of the nostril watch the video to see what came out! And don’t worry, this is all done under local anaesthetic so little Aladdin didn’t feel a thing!

13.01.2022 WHEN IS A LUMP NOT JUST A LUMP?! Missy visited us last week for a routine check of a lump just noticed on her tummy and ended up immediately on the emergency surgery table as we repaired two hernias that were close to blocking off the blood supply to her bladder and intestines!! She is going well post op and a visit to Pearl the Groomer (before the surgery) has her looking the belle of the ball with her pretty pink tail!!

13.01.2022 Are you ready for Puppy Partners? Our new puppy preschool kicks off on 6 January 2021 and we'd love to see you and your puppy. You'll discover how to teach your puppy to sit beautifully for photos - just like this one! Call us on 4952 8809 to book your place.

13.01.2022 Introducing Butters! And Elodie! 10 week old Butters came in for her second puppy needles yesterday and our lovely new nurse Elodie was on hand for smooching and cuddles!

13.01.2022 This is Beau the wonder dog with Clive his dad, and Jacqui, whose dog Kylo donated blood to save his life. Beau came in for an anaesthetic last week. He seemed quite well but being an older dog we took a pre-anaesthetic blood profile before going ahead. The bloods showed that he was very anaemic and further investigation showed a large bleeding mass in his abdomen. With the help of a most generous financial donor we were able to go ahead with surgery and Beau seems to be well on the road to recovery! #newlambtonvets #yourbestfriendsbestfriends #haemangioma

12.01.2022 We got a special present today...inside was Bean!!

12.01.2022 Teresa, the reptile carer from Hunter Wildlife Rescue, NATF Inc, came in last week to get a check up for this long necked turtle. He had been in a car accident and his shell was broken. In the past, carers have tried to glue the two edges of broken shell together but this is not so successful. You can see here how Teresa has superglued hooks on to the pieces of shell and wired them together with fuse wire. The turtle was sociable and it was very sweet to see how he gravitat...ed back to Teresa after he stuck his head out and had a look around! We gave him anti inflammatories and pain relief to get him past his injuries and on the road to healing. Turtle tip! : if you find a turtle on the road (there are always a lot on the roads around Dungog and Paterson at this time of year) make sure you put him on the side that his head is pointing towards! Turtles are slow but not silly and they plan their next moves carefully!! #turtlespeed #newlambtonvets #yourbestfriendsbestfriends See more

12.01.2022 This is Gus, Dr Monika’s bestest friend . He travelled down to Sydney a few weeks ago for a total hip replacement. We have been seeing a lot more of him since then as he has been coming to work during his convalescence. But Border Collie that he is, he decided that he was fully recovered about a week after surgery! Despite this, he has been an absolute model patient, staying in his run for most of the day. Watch this space for when Monika posts his before and after Xrays. What a tribute to the surgical team at VSOS, Sutherland Shire! #braveboy #totalhipreplacement #bordercolliesofinstagram #newlambtonvets #yourbestfriendsbestfriends

12.01.2022 Here at New Lambton we treat all pets like they are our own, but sometimes vets’ animals really do get sick too! Dr Emma could feel a suspicious lump in her dog... Maggie’s belly, which an ultrasound showed to be a lump on her spleen. Dr Emma decided surgery to remove her spleen was the best option to know whether the lump was cancerous or not, as the appearance of benign lumps on the spleen can look exactly the same as cancerous ones. Dr Emma ran some blood tests to get a general idea of Maggie’s health and took some chest xrays to make sure the growth hadn’t spread prior to surgery, and with the all clear she then got taken to surgery. It was a long wait over the next week while we all waited for pathology results, but the good news arrived that it was only a benign growth! Here is Maggie in surgery and again when she came in for her stitches out 2 weeks later. See more

11.01.2022 We are not sure what is cuter - Luna or her adorable Bandana!! BOTH we think paired together!! We love you Luna!!!

11.01.2022 Our friendly arborist Bill Anderson was working in Adamstown late yesterday when he came across two baby ring tail possums. Most possums live in the hollows of tall trees, but the common Ringtail Possum builds nests known as ‘dreys’ in bushes or trees. These little babies were a little hypothermic but otherwise in good health and they soon got the all clear to go into care with Hunter Wildlife Rescue to be nursed back to full health.

11.01.2022 Watching the team in action. The hero of this post is Kylo, Jacqui’s wolfhound cross, who rushed in on Monday to donate blood for a very sick little dog called Beau. Watch out for Part Two of this story where we explain how Beau came in for attention to a sore leg but was rushed to surgery after we examined his routine pre-anaesthetic blood profile #bloodtransfusion #newlambtonvets

We talked about the importance of enrichment too.... Watch here for these cute pups’ progress!

04.01.2022 Props to Kristie and Rochelle who both completed their TAFE OTJ’s (on the job assessments) this week at New Lambton Veterinary Clinic! The two girls, who have completed the practical part of their vet nursing course here over the last eighteen months, will be soon graduating with a Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing! Props also go to Ruth our very highly regarded TAFE assessor who over the years has put her heart into teaching students of Veternary Nursing!

03.01.2022 Ok! Ok! Here’s a bit more cuteness!! We have such a tough job at NLVC!!

02.01.2022 Did you know we have boarding facilities for cats in our vet clinic? We were lucky enough to have these cuties to look after over the weekend. We have two wonderful & dedicated nurses that come in every Sunday when the clinic is closed to feed, cuddle and play with all our boarding cats.

02.01.2022 Have you got a new puppy? Give your puppy the best Christmas present: Puppy Partners at New Lambton Vets! Our new puppy presechool course starts on 6 January 2021, places are limited so call now on 4952 8809 to book your spot.

02.01.2022 Did you know that pets can suffer from high blood pressure? Assessing blood pressure should be an annual part of your silver whiskered family member’s health check. Here is Cookie with the blood pressure cuff on his little foreleg. Because cats are so small we use a Doppler method to amplify the sound of the pulse which is impossible to hear with a stethoscope. Lucky for Cookie, he passed with flying colours and does not need to go home with blood pressure medicine! #catsofinstagram #silverwhiskers #bloodpressurecontrol #newlambtonvets #yourbestfriendsbestfriends
