21.01.2022 *** CORAL SEA TROPICAL LOW UPDATE *** *** COMPUTER MODELS COMING INTO GOOD AGREEMENT ON A COASTAL CROSSING BETWEEN CARDWELL AND AYR *** *** LATEST MODELLING SUG...GESTS A POWERFUL CATEGORY 3 OR 4 CYCLONE IS POSSIBLE AT LANDFALL *** This evening the computer guidance has come into good agreement on 1. A coastal crossing between Cardwell and Ayr and 2. A Powerful category 3 or 4 cyclone at landfall between Sunday and Tuesday next week, although most suggest between Monday and Tuesday (27th/28th March) Computer modelling has trended south than what was being suggested last night and now suggests a powerful cyclone coming ashore in the vicinity of Townsville. It is still too early to tell exactly where the cyclone may come ashore and once again computer modelling will almost certainly continue to change over the coming days. Therefore, it is very important to stay tuned to further updates on this system over the coming days here on Townsville Storms and any Cyclone watches and warnings the Bureau of Meteorology may issue for this system. Below is the latest satellite imagery of the developing Monsoonal LOW with the latest computer solutions as follows: 1. Satellite image of developing LOW 2. EURO: shows a category 3 or 4 TC coming ashore in the vicinity of Townsville. 3. UKMET 4. GFS 5. ESRL FIM 8 It's important to note the Canadian CMC solution actually doesn't landfall the system at all. It suggests a more easterly solution, where the system remains out to sea and tracks in a south easterly direction away from QLD coastline. This solution is an outlier at present but needs to be factored in to show that there is still some variation in the forecast track Of this system. Remember folks this is just an update purely for interest on what MAY occur according to what the science is suggesting at present. it is NOT a forecast and NOT in anyway set in stone as to what will occur. It is merely intended to keep everyone up to date with the developing LOW in the coral sea. Hope everyone has a good Wednesday night. Allan
