25.01.2022 Whistle blowers are an essential part of democratic fight against corruption. Without animal activists blowing the whistle on horrible practices we would know nothing about cruelty that goes on in factory farms - all done in our name. Have your say on the enquiry.
25.01.2022 If you have ever had the chance to get to know a hen, you should take it, as you would soon learn of their wonderful personalities. Their likes and their dislikes. They would make you laugh with their playfulness. You would never want to eat their bodies again. How lucky we are to know you Magenta
25.01.2022 Wanda and Pinto enjoying the sun. Both had been dumped at lakes in Melbourne. Both are now safe
25.01.2022 This is Regal. She arrived yesterday and is settling in well. A big thank you to the woman in Point Cook who went out of her way to rescue my new friend.
24.01.2022 The girls enjoying a dip
23.01.2022 We are outraged by this news. Please call the premier and let him know you are disgusted by a duck shooting season.
23.01.2022 Fewer wounded ducks coming in to care will make resources available for other animals in need. Please support banning duck shooting and tell your MPs you're serious about this happening right away.
22.01.2022 Happy Caturday!! Inigo has found the perfect space to relax on a cold wet morning.
19.01.2022 ATTY IS HOME! He made his way home this morning and will head to the vets today for a full check up.
19.01.2022 REWARD OFFERED for his safe return. Atty is still lost. Please check sheds and under the house incase he is trapped.
18.01.2022 This is the visibility at the start of legal shooting time today. At Reedy Lake in Geelong this morning, duck shooters started an EXTRA 43 minutes early with no light. Why are the only people that seem capable of policing this illegal and reckless behaviour a handful of volunteers? From Geelong Duck Rescue. Thank you for your dedication.
17.01.2022 Our latest little rescue.
16.01.2022 The recent devastating bushfire season in Australia has raised many questions not only for our nation, but for the global community who looked on in horror as o...ur land burned. What are the far reaching ecological and biodiversity impacts on a land that's been decimated by bushfires? With the intense smoke and air pollution that blanketed both regional and metro areas, what are the ongoing health impacts of these fires and how do we manage this public health threat in the future? How do we deal with the mental trauma associated with people who witness these firestorms? And what is the economic/agricultural/ educational impact on ourselves and our children? The first issue of Eingana for 2020 focuses on the bushfire crisis in Australia and is titled "From the Ashes" We are now calling for submissions from all members and friends of members, who have a particular area of interest or expertise around this topic. Click the link below for more information - we look forward to hearing your stories, research findings or reflections! http://bit.ly/Eingana2020 . credit @drruthcollins . . . #eingana #fromtheashes #bushfire #australia #bushfires #fires #climatechange #weather #extremeweather #bushfireemergency #crisis #australianbushfires #emergency #climateemergency #resilience #regeneration #afterthefires #environmenteducation #eev

13.01.2022 Citizen science is extremely important to animals. Get involved.
12.01.2022 Urgent action needed.
12.01.2022 This is Duck Duck. He was dumped in Bentleigh a year ago. Very playful, he loves the garden hose set to spray.

10.01.2022 Rethink the way we see pigeons. They are truly wonderful birds.
09.01.2022 The earth lost a precious soul today Our long term resident, Mab was a cat who was never meant to survive this world. Born into a colony of street cats, her fate as a feral cat was always going to be sealed. Lucky for her, a thoughtful group of rescuers removed her from her situation; though she was feral at the time, she had no idea she would land on her feet until later in her life. After being removed from the colony, she was immediately microchipped which proved worthw...hile when she escaped her new rescuers home and spent a month and a half out of the streets. Then one day, her rescuer got a call saying she was found (thank goodness for microchipping!). And home she came, more feral than ever. Through many years of building trust, she eventually became sweet natured cat. Unable to be adopted out due to her timidness after a rough start to life, she was happy to spend the rest of her lifetime with her adopted dad, Dave. Mab loved to chill. She wanted nothing more in life than to sit on her dads knee each night and watch TV with him. She was the star of many zoom meeting over the past months and would demand attention in the form of reaching up to claw your face while she snuggled on your lap. She also loved to snuggle her siblings and gave excellent massages. Mab was so very loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Unfortunately her kidneys began to fail and after every option was exhausted, the kindest option for Mab was to be put to sleep with her dad by her side. For a cat who had all the odds against her, she was so lucky to find Dave and he was even more lucky to find her.
09.01.2022 This little guy spent the last three weeks surviving on the streets after running away from his foster carer. Tonight I found him. Or rather, he found me, while I was leafletting yet another part of the neighbourhood and he followed me back to the car. So relieved to have him home.
09.01.2022 Welcome to the family! Two new chickens, surrendered to us simply because they werent laying eggs as much. Chickens are wonderful companions with individual personalities. They deserve homes where they can live out their entire lives with respect.
08.01.2022 Said so well. Reasoned and rational argument alongside emotions is what it means to be a thinking human. Regional Victorians Opposed to Duck Shooting embody this.
08.01.2022 190 days in foster care! Dolphin is a daydreamer and would be better suited to a quiet environment where he can relax. You can find out more about Dolphin here: https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/443089... Tiger is bold and confident. He likes to do his own thing and could easily settle in to become a family cat. Please contact us for more information about Tiger.
07.01.2022 Animals just letting themselves in the house.
07.01.2022 We have been so lucky to receive some very generous donations from wonderful supporters recently. 2020 has seen a whole variety of birds take refuge within our walls and many of them have been lucky enough to find forever homes. A big thank you to Jenna for this amazing donation of food and toys. This helps a small rescue such as us more than we can say! THANK YOU JENNA
06.01.2022 Happy to say that Wanda has found a flock and a wonderful forever home! She now has access to a pond and some geese friends to share it with. A big thank you to Jennifer for adopting her and to Forever Friends Animal Rescue for helping to facilitate this fabulous forever home.
05.01.2022 UPDATE: Our darling Sylvia lost her life during the surgery. We are devistated. Precious Sylvia has been rushed to the vet to have emergency surgery for suspected egg binding; a reproductive disease where the chicken can not pass the egg. Sylvias best mate is DuckDuck who is frantic without her today as they are inseparable. The estimated cost is $1000 for the surgery and any donations that can assist will be greatly appreciated. Donations are tax deductible. ... Account: New Life For Animals Rehoming Centre Inc. BSB: 704-191 Account Number: 248102
05.01.2022 Duck rescuers out on the wetlands across Victoria last weekend and all the weekends to follow - you are heroes in our eyes. We don't want to show a photo of the death this bloodsport leaves behind, so here's a pic of a duckling in care instead.
03.01.2022 Eight years ago I took in my first rescue pigeon. This is Eddie. She is the bird that helped me realise just how brilliant these friends are and since then New Life For Animals has rescued and helped hundreds more like her. We all share our day with these wild animals asnd yet we have learned not to see them. Today, have a look at some pigeons nearby and admire them for a second.

03.01.2022 Its that time of year again when people start to find baby birds who have fallen from their nest. This is great guide for what to do if you find a baby bird on the ground thanks to Wildlife Victoria. Save it to your phone for future reference.
01.01.2022 Many of our rescues come from wedding releases. Don't pay for cruelty at your wedding.
01.01.2022 Caught in a sunbeam. Inigo fell asleep. I fell asleep next to him
