23.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun... and in the morning We will remember them. On this day, and always, we recognise and remember the services and sacrifice of our veterans and serving personnel, in particular those who are residents, team members and family. #anzacday #lestweforget

22.01.2022 The New South Wales government has announced COVID-19 restrictions for Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong from midnight Sunday 20 December until midnight on Wednesday 23 December. We acknowledge that these restrictions are incredibly hard. Especially given the time of year and that many of you will have plans to spend time with family and friends. Here’s an important update of what this means for our Regional NSW villages.... http://ow.ly/DoAE50CQE4b

15.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that our very own Sue, Village Manager at Newling Gardens in Armidale has won the Retirement Living Council’s coveted ACT/NSW Village Manager of the Year award! This is an amazing achievement and fantastic recognition of the calibre of people we have in the RA family. 15.01.2022 More than 100 years ago, at 11am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after four years of the most brutal war the world had seen. In the four years of that war, more than 330,000 Australians served overseas, and over 60,000 had died. Today, on 11 November we mark that anniversary, and remember all those who sacrificed so much for us all, both in WWI, and all the wars, conflicts and operations that have happened since, and still continue today.... We particularly honour and celebrate those among our residents, and their families, who are veterans of conflicts, and hope that you will join us in paying our respects and express our gratitude for all they have given.

07.01.2022 The New South Wales government has further eased COVID-19 restrictions. Here’s a quick update of what this means for our NSW retirement communities. http://ow.ly/aHPF50CKjZX

06.01.2022 We love this story of Del and Evon who live in one of our sister villages. Everyone has a story, and it often influences their decision to move into a retirement village to make the most of their retirement years. Across our communities we have old friends and family living side-by-side, so this story really struck a chord with us.

06.01.2022 Today is RUOK day On this RUOK day, and every day, don’t even think twice about reaching out to friends, neighbours, colleagues, and loved ones. Even if they seem OK. It is always better to ask. Because showing that you care, and are willing to listen can make all the difference to someone doing it tough.... Check out the RUOK day website for advice on how to start a conversation, resources and more: http://ow.ly/OmUO50BlF3W

05.01.2022 Most of our villages are pet friendly, but a horse might be stretching things a little bit! But Newling Gardens Retirement Village does have an unofficial ‘therapy horse’, aptly named ‘Happy’ because of his lovely personality. He happily and regularly visits the village, reminding many residents of fond memories growing up on local farms, and riding to school. All Happy asks for in return is a pat and a chat, and the occasional treat! https://fb.watch/1h_JQje3x0/

05.01.2022 From everyone at RetireAustralia, we wish our residents and their families a safe and happy Easter. Even though we’ve come a long way in the past 12 months, some people may be spending another Easter in isolation. Wherever you are, we hope you’re finding ways to stay connected with your loved ones.... May Easter in 2021 bring you joy, peace, and time with those you love (even if it’s virtual).

04.01.2022 Today (and every day!) we are celebrating the wise, loving mother figures in our lives mums, grandmas, aunties, carers and best friends. We often hear about the wisdom of mothers and how they’re always right , so we thought we’d share some of our favourite mum advice: Think good thoughts.... Do what makes you happy. Never miss an opportunity to learn a new skill. Love wholeheartedly and be strong, no matter the circumstances. Anything worth having is worth working for. Lose with dignity and win with pride. Treat people the way you want to be treated. Always put on some lipstick. It’ll make you feel good. What’s the best advice your mum ever gave you? Share in the comments below
