24.01.2022 Well a very frosty start to the day in Campbells Creek. As the ice subsided the not so great quality tap in the garden turned to a fountain. No water until it was replaced. Off to the Hardware store before the visitors, Daughter Rebecca and Duncan, Grandson Liam and Clinique, arrived. Buddha and Shiva have been sitting in the Nursery section for the past seven months. They had to come home to join the others in the garden.

20.01.2022 This is for folk who want to keep a nostalgic record of the glorious days of the live theatre shows of the 1950s. J.C. Williamson’s Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne, The Comedy Theatre, The Tivoli, with Winifred Atwelll ‘Rocking the Town’, Toni Lamond in ‘The Panama Game’ or ‘The Olympic Follies’ to brighten Melbourne during the Olympic Games or you could fly on the largest, fastest, pressurised aircraft on a daily service between Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in a... Douglas DC6 Skychieff exclusive to Australian Nation Airwaves to see The Gibson Girls in ‘The Diamond Horseshoe’ or Beth Dean in ‘The Boy Friend’... These now historic theatre programmes were destined for ‘the Skip’ until a good lady from Bendigo rescued them and felt that as our Dear Fay had a lifetime of being the star in Melbourne theatre musicals we may be able to find a home for them. They are treasures but as we have retired from selling Antiques to our very humble and small Campbells Creek Cottage our storage space is little. If you are a ‘Theatre folk’ and wish to add some to your collection send us a message and we will ‘put aside’ a few for you. Remember it will only be a few as they are not for sale and we would rather ‘share them around’ to be loved and treasured. See more

19.01.2022 COVID 19 - On the first cold and windy day of Autumn, a cheery, but Socially Distant visit from daughter Rebecca & her partner Duncan. Rebeca works in the Health field. Her job is assisting to ‘dole’ out scarce protective paraphernalia to Health workers. They arrived with what appears to be a months supply of groceries. There are an awful lot of groceries there, How much do we owe you? My Easter gift she replied, Your job is to not catch the virus and keep keep writing ...your stories of life... you have not written about the campaigns for Equal Rights for Women, or for Universal Health, the back yard barbecues before the drink driving laws when everyone drove home. They were the exciting days of childhood... I would rather write about when we rode our pushbikes through China I replied I wonder if you have my old diaries? These groceries are to make sure that you Stay at Home she replied. See more

18.01.2022 Covid 19 At a safe Social Distance, The old Clothes line, no matter how romantic, had to go and Alan offered to erect the new. Even after reading the instructions there was a struggle. #clothesline #campbellscreek #covid19

14.01.2022 In the Northern spring of 1984, during the period that China was in the process of opening its borders to Western visitors, along with my then 15 year old daugh...ter, Rebecca, we set out on a Bicycle Tour of sections of China. Over the coming weeks or months we will take you on our recall of the adventures of that tour. Assisted by Rebecca’s diaries, hundreds of photographs and postcards collected along the way, as we observed their and our reactions of the people of China as they emerged from isolation. Unfortunately my dairies were destroyed when the B Double truck overran our Antiques Shop and storage shed in November of 2012. These photographs are to inspire me to begin organising and writing... 10.01.2022 Honour them all, but I do remember those comrades from B Company 2RAR, who never got to wear their medals on ANZAC Day or on any other day.

10.01.2022 Covid 19 Another ‘Socially Distant’ visit. This time from our very dear friend Dear Robyn. With Apples, Pears and Quince from her garden and some from our Newly...n Cottage Garden Nursery before the sale of the Hall finalises. We gave virtual kisses and hugs as she left. We love you Dear Robyn. See more

09.01.2022 In the Dawn of the morning, On ANZAC Day. In the silence of the rising day, As I, alone, With tears remembered those comrades, ... Who will never rise for ANZAC day, There, then gone... I opened my door and found, Left in the night, A gift, A gift of love, From one I love, But do not know, But now I love you even more... See more

01.01.2022 It is two weeks since we hung some wild bird seed on our garden arches. This morning the Sulpha Crested Cockatoos discovered it was there. This view is from our kitchen window.
