25.01.2022 Hi Everyone With football returning to Newlyn today, our U18s take on Carngham Linton at Newlyn at 11.30am. There are no U15 or U12 games today. The club wishes new coach Brayden Slater (Grav), assisted by Darren Cassells, and our lads all the best for the season. We have a number of new players in the team and we welcome them and their families to Newlyn.... The club has worked hard to ensure we comply with AFL Victoria’s return to play protocols. There are key requirements around hygiene, cleaning, social distancing and registration, with all of our coaches and officials also doing the official COVID-19 training to ensure we are in the best position to look after the welfare of our people and our visitors. The club would like to thank everyone who has assisted in so many ways in getting us here today - our volunteers have done an absolute power of work - thank you. Go Cats

24.01.2022 Hi everyone, I hope you are all keeping well. No doubt many will have been following latest developments re Central Highlands football and netball in the media recently. ... The CHFL and CHNL have both had meetings recently to discuss the future of this season. We are now waiting on further information from AFL Victoria (expected this week) - the Newlyn committee will then meet to discuss. The current plan is for the CHFL to meet again with clubs on June 29th to decide whether or not to proceed with a season. We will update our members and supporters as soon as we know more. Thanks Jon Rofe

14.01.2022 205 PARMA’S! Thanks to everyone for supporting the club tonight by buying a Parma. We officially brought 205 Parma’s as a club which is an amazing effort. A great showing of how wonderful our Newlyn community is. A massive thanks to Jason Yean and the team up at The Park Hotel. The Parma’s were bloody delicious and we always appreciated what you guys do for us. ... A very special mention also has to go to Chris Dwyer who has done his best to support local business far and wide after he ordered his Parma from The Park Hotel in Maryborough.

11.01.2022 Great to see the crew from Europa Cafe call in and grab a quick snap in front of their sponsors sign. Europa are a great family and locally ran cafe and have been proud supporters of the club for the past few years. #supportlocal #gocats

09.01.2022 The club is excited to announce that Chris Banwell will be returning as senior football coach for season 2021. Banners has thoroughly enjoyed his short time at the club and is keen to pick things up where they left off prior to the 2020 season shutdown. We look forward to Banners continuing the great work he's put in with our playing group and can't wait to see him get to actually coach a game soon enough!

08.01.2022 Hi to all our Cats players, volunteers, supporters and families. It is with much regret that our club has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the CHFL junior football competition for 2020. This decision was made following discussion with our junior coordinators/coaches and our committee given the increasing reach of COVID-19 into regional Victoria and our local communities. While we realise this will be disappointing for many, we thought it was the best option for t...he health and safety of all involved in our club and the broader community. Our club has again demonstrated that we are so well supported by a strong and capable group of volunteers by the way everyone worked through the AFL Victoria Return to Play protocols that enabled us to get our season underway. All coaches/officials undertook the COVID training, and teams also implemented the required registration and cleaning processes at both training and on game days. I’d like to thank all of our coaches, coordinators and volunteers for your efforts in getting our season started, and although it was brief, it has been fantastic to welcome new families to our club and to see our young players train and play with such enthusiasm. I hope to see as many of you as possible back at the Cattery in 2021!! Thanks Jon Rofe

07.01.2022 Hi everyone, It’s been great to start the season and see our junior footballers have the opportunity to spend some time training together and playing the first two rounds against Carngham and Rokewood. We’ve also welcomed a number of new players and families to our club in all junior teams. Our club has again demonstrated that we are so well supported by a strong and capable group of volunteers by the way everyone has worked through the AFL Victoria Return to Play protocols.... All coaches/officials have undertaken the COVID training necessary to enable our club to return to play, and also implemented the required processes at both training and on game day. Please note however that all training (U12, U15 and U18) is currently suspended, and Saturday’s games vs Skipton will not proceed, as a family within our U18s playing group is undergoing COVID19 testing due to potential contact with a confirmed positive case. Following discussion with our Junior Coordinators/Coaches and the CHFL/AFLVIC, it was decided that all training, and also Saturdays scheduled games for both Newlyn and Rokewood FNCs should not go ahead. We realise this will be disappointing, particularly for our players, but we want to make sure we’re looking after the safety of our players, volunteers and community members. The club would like to thank everyone who has been helping out to give our juniors the opportunity to train and play football, and also to those who have been involved in working through things this week - you’ve all been doing a great job. The club also offers its full support and understanding to everyone involved and those impacted by COVID19, and we really hope for the best possible outcome for everyone’s health. Thanks Jon Rofe

04.01.2022 PARMA NIGHT MENU 4 Parma’s on offer for Thursday night from our mates at The Park Hotel. You can get your orders in from 3pm on Thursday for pick up between 5:30-8.

02.01.2022 Hi to all our faithful Cats, The Newlyn FNC committee met last night to decide on our club’s participation in season 2020. After receiving feedback from football and netball teams, the committee voted not to participate in senior football/netball and junior netball competitions in 2020. While we understand this is disappointing on many fronts, feedback from the respective groups and the interests of the club and its players/supporters/volunteers were at the centre of these de...cisions. The health of our people, the financial position of our club into future years, the lack of social opportunities given restrictions, and the impost on our volunteers to run the club in accordance with requirements were all key considerations in our decisions. The club will still look to participate in junior football if a competition gets up and running, though there are still a number things to be sorted out. A quick note re memberships, the club will look to get in touch with those who have paid memberships regarding options from here. A special thank you to everyone who has invested so much of their time so far in getting ready for 2020, including coaches/players/trainers/coordinators/volunteers/parents. Thanks also to our sponsors - you guys are a huge reason our club is as strong as it is. Our club is one of the best supported clubs in the league, and this is what makes Newlyn FNC such a great club. The club wants to see everyone stay strong, and we’re looking to start getting together socially later on when restrictions allow. Thank you to everyone for your patience, efforts and contributions in helping the club arrive at these difficult decisions, and we look to continue to build our club into the future. Jon Rofe
