24.01.2022 Children in the Pilbara town of Newman have been putting their swimming skills to good use in a recent #GoFor2and5 Swim for Fruit program at Newman Aquatic Cent...re, supported by Healthway. Over 300 participations were recorded during Term 4 2020 and Term 1 this year. Coordinator Aquatic Services at The Shire of East Pilbara, Mel Warren, says all the fruit for the program is kindly donated by Woolworths. Students from Polly Farmer Foundation's Martu Education Centre have also been enjoying a Swim and Survive program at the centre thanks to support from Principal Community Partner BHP. 18.01.2022 With the new announcements from the government, we wanted to provide an update. Both our Newman and Marble Bar Pools have been closed for the winter to conduct maintenance and repairs. The facility will reopen later in the year for the summer season. 18.01.2022 With the weather warming up and the number patrons at pool increasing by the day - the Staff at Newman Aquatic Centre would like to remind parents that we are a WATCH AROUND WATER centre. This means if you are bringing children under the age of 5 to the aquatic centre you MUST BE WITHIN ARMS REACH OF THEM AT ALL TIMES, this means if they are in the water you are in the water. Yes even the toddler pool. If you have children under the age of 10 attending the centre they must a...lways be in sight - this means if you go to the kiosk or move from the 50m pool to the toddler pool they must exit the water and go with you. Children under 5 years are free entry with a FULL PRICED ADULT and must wear a YELLOW WRIST BAND Children under 10 years are $4.00 with either a FULL PRICED ADULT or PAYING SPECTATOR and must wear a GREEN WRIST BAND Supervision of young children at public pools responsibility between lifeguards and parents- Parents Supervise, Lifeguards Save Lives. Lifeguard's and Aquatic Officers will have a strong focus on parental supervision and any unsupervised children will be removed from the water. 17.01.2022 TERM 4 SWIMMING LESSONS The Shire of East Pilbara’s in term swimming will commence on TUESDAY 27th October 2020. With lessons running Tuesday, Thursday afternoons and Saturday morning. For 7 weeks. ... At this stage we are only offering lessons for children aged 5 years and above. We are hoping to offer infant and toddler lessons in the near future. Bookings are now available online at https://www.trybooking.com/BMARU There are extremely limited places available due only having 1 swimming teacher available this term. She’s the Coordinator Aquatic Services here at The Shire of East Pilbara, looking after both Newman Aquatic Centre and Marble Bar Swimming Pool Mel has worked in the Aquatics industry for 20 years. From teaching swimming in Perth and overseas, to being the solo operator of local pools in remote communities in WA and NT, her skills and experience are vast. Her favourite part of her job is the diversity of it all! From being in the pool engaging with kids, to planning the future of the centre and getting her hands dirty in the plant room no two days are ever the same

She’s the Aquatic Administration Officer here at Newman Aquatic Centre Michele’s background is in the media and communications industry in South Africa, the UK and Perth. She looks after the administration side of things behind the scenes at the pool but you may see her pop out in the kiosk sometimes. Her favourite part of her job is that it has enabled her to connect with the local community and spend time around people who are always smiling

09.01.2022 Season Opening Newman Aquatic Centre Limited Hours Newman Aquatic Centre will have a soft reopening on WEDNESDAY 16th September (tomorrow!). The facility will start with limited hours, with increasing hours and open days over the next fortnight. The 50m pool will be available for lap swimming, and an area will be sectioned off area to allow young children and families to enjoy the water. The toddler pool has been completely resurfaced over the winter, and will rema...in closed for now. When a public pool is emptied for resurfacing, it cannot reopen until water samples have been checked, and approved by the Health Department. This is well underway, and we hope to be announcing the reopening date of this pool soon. Our first weeks opening hours will be: (16/9) WEDNESDAY 2pm 6pm (17/9)THURSDAY 2pm 6pm (18/9) FRIDAY 2pm 6pm (19/9) SATURDAY 2pm - 6pm (20/9) SUNDAY 2pm - 6pm (21/9) MONDAY Closed (22/9) TUESDAY Closed Please check our social media and the Shire’s website for updated opening details, and we look forward to seeing you at the Newman Aquatic Centre soon. So when you next come to the pool there will be extra shade at the shallow end of the 50m pool!...
