25.01.2022 I recently read an article published by a psychologist about why the majority of people aren’t prepared to eat right and exercise consistently enough to generate the outcome they want....because it confuses me. Basically the study looked at how we, as a society, have made ourselves comfortable. Everything is easy. Fast food, air condition, instant gratification of the internet and social media etc etc. So when it comes to consistently exercising and eating right the stud...y eluded to the concept that it was uncomfortable. Here’s the thing though, how uncomfortable are you being overweight? Is it more than the perceived discomfort of the alternative? It is for me. I hurt someone’s feelings once when I was asked how I stay motivated, my answer was that I didn’t want to be a fat PT. The way we perceive ourselves plays a big part in how we behave. Think about the quintessential truck driver....smokes, pies, blue singlet and beer gut. Not all truckies, but that’s the first image that pops into mind. My point is, the way you see yourself, will subconsciously drive your actions and your actions are what will define you. Does the pain of not being in the shape you want, outweigh the pain of doing what you need to do in order to change it?

20.01.2022 #assaultbike, you bitch . Five weeks down our abb challenge road. This week I dropped 500grams which is good, slow and steady progress. I’m trying to hold as much muscle as I can while still dropping fat, so, things are going good. I measured my waist today and was pleased to see I’ve lost 5cm there as well. You know, I really haven’t gone without much during this challenge. I’ve still had a few beers, normal dinners etc, am not counting calories etc, just consistent training. Slow and steady, another five weeks like this and I should be right where I want. Abb challenge!!!!

18.01.2022 We had an interesting weekend in the Newman house that saw me in hospital on Saturday night with a bit of chest pain. Turns out to be unexplained at this stage but we’ll follow it up and figure it out. Needless to say I haven’t trained for three days while the dust settled. Anyway, I didn’t weigh-in and I had a few cleansing ales to be sure I was alright . It looks like I’ve dropped more weight but I really don’t know, I don’t like this photo much but it’s progress and it keeps me accountable. Two weeks to go until I’m home, I have three clients booked....one spot left. If you want it, let’s chat. 15.01.2022 I’m almost losing count of the weeks but I’m pretty sure its been 7. 5cm off my waist, 8kg down, my spaghetti arms arm the same even though the mean girls tease me and I’m back into my favourite jeans! Feeling fit and I’m very excited to be officially heading home from the mines permanently. That also means that I now have four PT spots available from 5:30 on Monday’s and Thursday’s. 12.01.2022 Promising talk of Gyms and PT Studios opening again after forced closure from Covid 19 but the industry concern is, will it even be the same and is that necessarily a bad thing if it isn’t? The Fitness industry has always been a tough place to survive, I’ve been a qualified PT since I was 15 years old....that’s almost 32 years in the industry and I’ve seen a fair bit of stuff come and go in that duration. Generally, in my opinion the industry offers three choices and the ge...neral public can only choose two at a time. Low prices, quality facilities or service. Shelf gyms offer low prices and quality facilities but if you want service like PT and programs you have to pay extra. Studios offer quality facilities and one on one PT or small group PT but they’re not cheap. Most provides regardless of business structure, are concerned whether they’ll even be able to open again once all this is done. A vast majority of people have invested in home gym equipment and most gyms have transitioned to online training in an attempt to survive so what happens once we’re allowed to open remains unclear. The eternal optimist, I’d like to think people see the value of the PT studio, smaller, more personalised services and are willing to pay for it. Time will tell and of course, when we open we’ll let you know. Whatever happens, we’ll still have a kickass studio that’ll either be available for clients or just the meanest home gym just for us .

10.01.2022 6 WEEK SHRED & BUILD OPPORTUNITY. It's about 6 weeks until Christmas and for me, it's also the perfect time to start an intense training phase to get myself back to where I should be. This time, I'm taking two people with me and if you're up for the challenge and prepared to work like you never have before then you might want to keep reading. Here's how it works. I'm looking for two people to train with me for the 6-week block. We'll train together 5 days a week, twice a day... on at least two of those days. Predominantly we'll be training weights and cardio, both long slow distance, and high-intensity interval training. You will get a meal & supplement plan exactly the same as mine and payment will be paid in full prior to starting training, $600 per person, non-refundable. Obviously, this isn't for everyone, you'll need to be 100% committed and prepared to work around anything to get the job done. 08.01.2022 I find it pretty interesting even with the gyms starting opening for awhile now or about to open in QLD, that equipment is still selling out and hard to get, especially when it comes to big ticket items like sqaut racks, cages etc. The earliest period of availability I have seen on anything is late June, generally late July to mid August though. I personally couldn’t see this as a clearer sign of where the industries heading, with home based and alternatives away from commerc...ial gym’s taking a bigger slice of the market. I think it could be smart for a lot of commercial gym PT’s who are not already really well established in the setting to pivot away asap because I doubt there will be as much of a market for us now in that space. Not trying to be doom and gloom. I think that’s the reality though. Some clients of mine have enjoyed their sessions outside of gyms more too and I have been approached by an individual for sport based training, asking what I can do and to work out a multiple session plan, with potential for others to take part, so there is opportunity still. Just will look different for some of us. See more

05.01.2022 When time permits, one of my absolute favourite things to do is cook amazing food and tonight is the night baby. Dinner this evening is dry aged steak with home made mushroom sauce. The meat is a celebration in itself but the sauce is something altogether exceptional. A leisurely cooked blend of mushrooms, chicken broth, white wine, garlic, salt flakes and pepper to taste with fresh thyme leaves, extra virgin olive oil and butter.....OMG it’s good. Accompanied by broccoli, garlic mash potatoes and roasted beetroot and of course a wonderful fresh New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.....fairly safe to say dinner tonight will be nothing short of amazing. #eatwelllivewell #personaltrainer #lovinglife

05.01.2022 Making sure we’re on the front foot for our clients and ourselves, NFS has decided to suspend all GROUP classes until further notice due to social distancing. We will continue with all our One on One Personal Training sessions as usual and are offering our existing members equipment to borrow in order for them to train at home with weekly workouts that we’ll post on a private page like we’ve done previously for online customers. We have stepped up our hygiene protocol in the... studio with more frequent cleaning and hand sanitizer available as well as antibacterial hand wash. We also ask that if you’re unwell and showing symptoms or if you have been exposed to someone returning from overseas, that you stay home for the 14 day isolation period. 01.01.2022 How’s iso training going.....me, yeah alright thanks . Something I have ALWAYS done, since the age of 14, is train in the gym. I’ve been active my entire life, mountain bikes, surfing, running, weightlifting, boxing, dirt bikes, basically getting in and enjoying life. It pays off, consistency and dedication.
