09.01.2022 Today Damian Peck and Rev. Marcus went to The Quiet Man Irish pub to try and reimagine what a covid compliant or online version of ‘Beer and Carols’ could look like... an event that has brought together dozens of community, church, charity and business groups over the last 9 years. The rejigged pub is open and great if you want a socially distanced meal... but not a large event. We had a crack at a song to celebrate the many groups who have donated and supported us this ye...ar ... but it just wasn’t the same...sadly this video is the best we could manage. We are looking a bit tired because the Flemington People’s Pantry has stayed open all year and grown rapidly, adapting from a multifaith food-swap celebration, to a bookings only, and then a home delivery service to 250 local households. We are sad about no ‘Beer and Carols’, but it was always a pantry fundraiser, so we have decided to instead pour our energies into a Christmas hamper home delivery run instead. They ...provide food parcels to at least 60 households each week (on fortnightly rotation).
