24.01.2022 We have some exciting stud news to share! Earlier in March this year BC (Before COVID-19), we participated again in The Australian All Breeds Tour 2020, for independent evaluation and classification of our horses by respected and licensed International Breed Judge, Frank Weisskirchen from Germany. Frank is also a successful breeder and agent for high class sport horses for eventing, dressage and show jumping. We presented two horses this year: Gennikay who is Darren's new Th...oroughbred acquisition. Gennikay was classified and approved for Trakehner breeding. And our Shagya-Araber colt New-Moon Odin, our only foal for last season. New-Moon Odin scored extremely well, with a 9 for head and for saddle position/shoulder, and an overall conformation score of 84%. This was the second highest conformation score given on the tour. He scored 8 for each of walk, trot and canter, with an overall movement score of 78%. Bringing his total score to 81%, in the Elite tour category. We hope that as he matures and his front end catches up with his hind end, his movement scores will be even better, making him a truly superb future stallion prospect. So our future breeding program looks bright, based on New-Moon Odin, and our three retained fillies New-Moon Melita who previously scored 81.43% in her foal assessment, New-Moon Delilah who scored 81.25% in her foal assessment, and New-Moon Jameka who scored 77.14%. And the icing on the cake for us this year ... Frank Weisskirchen awarded New-Moon Stud the Special Assessors Award of 'Best Breeding Program on Tour'!! We have one foal due this year, who will be a half sibling to both NM Odin and NM Melita. Thanks April Newman for the photos of NM Odin

21.01.2022 Update - we are still unburnt and ok. Yesterday’s southerly wind change was predicted to be another serious threat, so we were geared up and ready for most of the night, but the wind ended up coming more from the SW than SE, and blew our main hot spot threat back on itself. Still have active fire close by to the north, east and south, so not in the clear yet. We have a few more cool days now, to re-charge before the next heat wave. An ongoing cycle until the end of summer I... think. 2mm rain last night was a pleasant surprise, but unfortunately not enough to put out fires. Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes being sent our way

21.01.2022 Beautiful photo of a Shagya-Araber stallion in Slovakia

19.01.2022 Update - All ok for now at the stud. Still have out of control fire fronts to the south and east with plenty of forest remaining unburnt... We’re all still on e...dge.. Sadly, our village has been smashed and friends homes burnt to the ground . Fortunately no loss of life to date.... Thank you for all your wishes and prayers.. Still gearing up for more danger as the weather heats up again this week...take care... See more

18.01.2022 A busy and successful weekend for New-Moon Stud!! New-Moon Leopold competed over the weekend at the Equestrian SA Showjumping Championships with his young owner/trainer Ella Manning. Together they placed 3rd in the 'Thomas and Redwood' Junior Series, and then 3rd in the Open 85cm, 5th in the Open 90cm, and 4th in the Open 95cm, in which the jump-off was around 105cm. Most of the classes had 35-40 entries. Congratulations Ella and Leo!! And while NM Leopold was doing this, ...his half brother NM Galileo was successfully completing his first 80km endurance ride at The Matar Stables Bullio Cup, braving rain, hail, shine, thunder and lightning while out on course. Zariah al Samarraie, a Shagya-Araber mare we imported from the Al Samarraie Stud in Germany, also successfully completed her first 80km endurance ride at The Matar Stables Bullio Cup. NM Galileo and Zariah travelled strongly out on course and presented very well for their vet checks. We're really pleased with the great recoveries they showed - an excellent career starter for them. Many thanks to April Newman who has managed their training and preparation for this event. Many thanks also to Ty Manning for the lovely photos of Leo!

18.01.2022 Sending a huge Congratulations to Ella Manning on her win at the Monarto Horse Trials (EVA65 Div 2) in South Australia on the weekend!! Riding New-Moon Leopold, Ella is both trainer and rider of this young horse. In NM Leopold's only second competition start, they scored 73% in the dressage, with a clear showjumping round, and the only clear jumping and time cross country in the division. New-Moon Leopold is a Trakehner gelding from our imported Shagya-Araber mare Laila. A maternal brother to our Shagya-Araber colt New-Moon Odin.

05.01.2022 New-Moon Orion, our resident 3yo Shagya x Arabian colt, modelling the Australian All Breeds Tour prize rug for the 2020 Assessors Award - Best Breeding Program on tour! His first foal NM Odin was classed Elite on the 2020 tour. His second foal is due this coming spring ... So many thanks to Frank Weisskirchen and Tanya Hosford for their time and energy touring Australia to provide quality independent assessment, classification and advice to Australian sport horse breeders.... April Newman is doing a lovely job working with this boy, just now starting under saddle

05.01.2022 Introducing New-Moon Maia, our latest darling - one-week-old Shagya-Araber filly, from imported Shagya-Araber mare Medina, by our stallion New-Moon Orion. Thank you April Newman for the lovely photos
