25.01.2022 It's BOOK WEEK at New Norfolk High School until Wednesday, Week 2. Our staff have organised lots of fun activities to highlight the joy of reading! We will also be running a DRESS UP ASSEMBLY on Wednesday next week. There will be prizes for each grade so get thinking ... This year’s Book Week theme is CURIOUS CREATURES, WILD MINDS. What’s a book you remember reading with a curious creature in it?
25.01.2022 Last Friday was Schools Tree Day and what lovely weather we had for it! Ms Newfield's class got their hands dirty and helped Ms Brodie transplant 50 saplings! We can't wait to see these trees grow up and brighten our school in years to come.
23.01.2022 On Thursday 27th August (Week 6), all of Grade 10 will attend RYDA Day at Hobart Showgrounds to learn about road safety. Bring a water bottle and a packed lunch for the day, a sausage sizzle will also be available for $2. Remember to contact the school if you cannot attend.

Tomorrow is our book week assembly, so make sure you get your costume sorted as there will be prizes galore!! 21.01.2022 It's the sound of science! We LOVE hearing young people get THIS EXCITED about science, and with experiments like these every lunch time, who wouldn't be?! If you would like to foster this excitement at home, be sure to check out the SPECTRA cards students received at the start of the week. NNHS was lucky enough to receive one card for each student, PACKED full of scientific activities you can do at home. ... 21.01.2022 The end of Grade 10 is quickly approaching and it is time to celebrate the hard work and achievement of our students. Payment for all activities is due on Monday 23rd November. Please return the permission form and money to the office, or call the office on 6261 7800 to RSVP and pay. Some of the upcoming events for Grade 10 are excursions to SupaWorld and the cinema in Week 9 and the Formal on Monday 14th December (Week 10). We're excited!!... 21.01.2022 Well, to say today's staff vs student netball game was competitive is an understatement. The students should be congratulated on their valiant effort (with NO subs) but ultimately it was a staff victory 7-4!! Thank you and well done to all who participated
21.01.2022 On Monday 24th August (Week 6), all of Grade 10 will be at Claremont College’s Taster Day. Buses leave early on the day, so make sure you are at school before 8:30am. Remember to bring a water bottle, lunch will be provided by Claremont College. Please contact the school if you cannot attend!

17.01.2022 New Norfolk High School presents the Cross Country Colour Run 2020 Friday 11th September Week 8 at Tynwald Park LESS THAN 2 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL SOME COLOURFUL ACTION It will be a jam packed day, with the colour run and other activities rotating throughout, so heaps of house points up for grabs. The students will be down at Tynwald Park by 10:15am. With the first event starting at 10:30am. ... *Remember to wear a white top for the paint to stand out* There will be a free BBQ available during Lunch Well done to those who are fundraising and getting sponsored for the colour run, you will receive some great prizes. Funds raised will go towards improving our school's resources. If you would like to start fundraising, you can go to schoolfunrun.com.au to enter and create an online profile. We have already raised over $500 as a school. Awesome stuff, let’s keep it going! Homegroup challenge the class to have the most online profiles created will get to spray paint the HPE team!
17.01.2022 NNHS's Athletics Carnival starts Friday THIS WEEK! We're so excited for everyone to get involved and earn house points across Friday, week 3 and Monday, week 4. Students will need to bring recess, a hat, water and a jumper. Most importantly, WEAR HOUSE COLOURS!!! Parents who would like to attend the Athletics Carnival are welcome to, as long as they sign in and provide contact details at the front office when they arrive and are seated 1.5 metres apart in a designated area on the school oval.
16.01.2022 During Week 10 of last term, Grade 9 students undertook Peer Support training. With a mixture of serious reflection and some fun team-building, it was a fantastic experience for all! Grade 9 students have until the end of this week to submit peer leader application forms.
15.01.2022 At the end of last term, Grade 9 students demonstrated their understanding of graphic novels by creating one of their own about an important moment in their lives. What a great idea, Mrs Parker
15.01.2022 Yesterday Grade 9s had another reward activity for the top Green Slip earners in Term 4. Students made their own dessert pizzas with nutella and toppings galore. Congratulations Grade 9s, We're sure all that sugar helped you concentrate in period 5!

11.01.2022 COMPETITION TIME! National Science Week wouldn’t be complete without a BANG! HOW MANY RUBBER BANDS WILL IT TAKE TO IMPLODE THIS MELON? ... COMMENT your entries on this post and the closest guess will win a NINJA QUADCOPTER DRONE! (One entry per person). Entries close on Friday at recess, when this oversized berry will meet its match at the hands of some very serious scientists with size 64 rubber bands. We have joined forces with Dr Rob and over 200 other schools to conduct this citizen science project. 11.01.2022 And they did do us proud! Participating in their first ever Science and Engineering Challenge, New Norfolk High School students came away with a 2nd place (Turbine Design), a 3rd place (Grasping at Straw), and a 4th place result in the hotly contested Gold Fever Bridge Building Competition (Mercury Article). Mollie (Year 9) enjoyed the individual aspect of the day stating it was good to figure things out yourself, because you won’t always have somebody there to help you out. Mitchell (Year 10) said that it was a good day out and that he liked the turbine activity because it was good to see how a real turbine works.
11.01.2022 WOW! Science week at New Norfolk High School certainly got off to a flying start! Well done Mr Barry and Ms Strickland for organising this Elephant's Toothpaste experiment for the lunch time demonstration. A special thank you and well done to our student helpers as well! Keep an eye and ear out for more amazing demonstrations each lunch time this week. It's safe to say that after today our expectations are sky high!

All students have selected their subjects already, it will be a fun and enjoyable day! Claremont College will provide lunch, so students just need to bring water and appropriate school uniform. 06.01.2022 This Wednesday, lucky Grade 7s will be exploring Mt Field National Park for an excursion. We have a jam-packed day full of activities that are sure to entertain but the weather is looking a little drizzly If your child is in Grade 7, please make sure they pack warm clothes and a raincoat on Wednesday, as well as their water bottle, hat, appropriate shoes and food.
06.01.2022 We will be celebrating Wear it Purple Day at NNHS this Friday (August 28th)!! We will be hosting a FREE barbeque and a purple hairspray station (gold coin donation). You can wear free dress too as long as it's purple and you bring a gold coin donation! This has been organised by our school's Rainbow Beans club so get involved, Wear it Purple and stand up as an ally to all students
03.01.2022 Deadly Choices were at school today at lunch giving students the opportunity to test their skill and win some delicious fruit. Deadly Choices programs are aimed at supporting Indigenous students to be positive role models and mentors for their family, peer group and community.
03.01.2022 On Tuesday, Mr Armstrong’s STEM class, along with some of our exceptional Grade 9 and 10 Science students, attended the Science and Engineering challenge. This was New Norfolk high School’s first attendance and our students did us proud! They showed resilience, creativity and hard work in their conduct throughout the day, well and truly earning our school’s Derwent Valley Rotary Club sponsorship. A massive thank you to both the students involved and to Rotary for their support in getting us to this event!
02.01.2022 Apologies for any confusion, Grade 10s are welcome to attend Claremont College's 'Beyond Grade 10' day tomorrow if they arrange their own transport and notify the school. The day will run on Tuesday 1 December from 9.00am to 3.00pm. This will give students the opportunity to experience a day at college and their confirmed enrolment subject choices for 2021. Below is the general structure of the day, any students attending who aren’t currently enrolled at Claremont College f...or 2021 are welcome to attend and can ‘shadow’ a friend for the day. Students: can arrive from 8.15 and experience Claremont's free Breakfast Club will be given their timetable on the day in Home Group will be provided with morning tea and a BBQ lunch can access the canteen at breaks can wear free dress. Please ensure you contact the school if your student is attending tomorrow.
