17.01.2022 We're 6 months young and what a life we've had so far! Like all our fellow business-owners who have battled through covid-craziness, the past few months hav...e taught us so much about resilience, staying nimble and the importance of community. Now that our hosts The Eleventh Order Brewery are back up and running and events are starting again, we're revising our hours to suit. From tomorrow the store will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - but true to our New Norfolk Distillery spirit of rebellion, we won't be resting! Instead, we'll use this time to create more gift boxes, improve our website offerings and continue to source amazing locally made food and drinks. The bar team will also be using the time to create an exciting program of things for you to do on Saturday nights (we heard on the hops-vine that trivia and karaoke are on the way!) Our Providore will continue to open Thursday - Monday, and our delicious array of #Tasmanian products are always available online for you to purchase and pick-up when we open. We will also continue to deliver to New Norfolk, Hobart and surrounds every Friday afternoon Thank you to our dedicated team, customers, providers and friends for your support so far. Although we're very fortunate that things are looking better on our little island, we aren't out of the woods yet. So please continue to practice safe hygiene, follow social distancing rules and keep supporting your local businesses whenever you can #supportlocal #buysomethingtasmanian

14.01.2022 Time for a little Tuesday Trivia. Today we're taking a closer look at liqueurs! The French word 'liqueur' is derived from the Latin word 'liquifacere', this... means 'to dissolve'. Whilst recipes for liqueurs have been found in Ancient Greek scrolls and Egyptian tombs, it was Italian Monks in the 13th century who developed liqueurs. The monks would infuse the liqueurs with herbs for medicinal purposes. They would also add spices, sugars and fruits. Today's liqueurs are commonly enjoyed neat or poured over ice, with dessert or in cooking. Some even like a cheeky drop in their coffee . Our lamington liqueur combines notes of chocolate, vanilla and coconut, blended in our sugarcane spirit and for today's modern rebellious spirits - boosted with a dollop of sweet strawberry jam . You can find our lamington liqueur on the shelf at the New Norfolk Popup Providore , at the Banjo's New Norfolk Market on Saturdays or on our website ( www.newnorfolkdistillery.com ). @jesscurtis___
