13.01.2022 We have had a few weeks with very heavy hearts here in Australia, and all around the world as we have watched disaster spread across the land. Our thoughts are with all of those families affected by the fires and the incredibly brave and selfless people, including the firefighters, servicemen and animal caretakers that are fighting with everything they have. The recovery and relief efforts are in place as communities, near and far, join together to support this beautiful country. To anyone that wants to donate to the Bushfire relief effort but has not yet done so, here is an excellent list of the many different organisations and programs that you can donate to Every little bit counts.

04.01.2022 Help Lighten Their Load Hardship, challenges, divorce, change, fights, moving, loss - they all create little bricks. Little bricks that we put into an imaginary backpack that we carry with us. Some children can pass those bricks along to others and throw bricks out along the way. They can lighten their load without much help. Other children hold on to their bricks. Those bricks get heavier and heavier, making it so heavy that it's hard to have fun and hard to feel happy. Giv...ing your child an opportunity to share their bricks with you is a way to help them cope. Let them give you their bricks and their problems. Help them shave off some weight. Help them think about their bricks differently. Work as a team to come up with ways to help the bricks not so scary, or feel less hurtful. Make a list of your children's bricks: Then come up with ideas how to lighten their load. Then get to work by their side... Examples - Talk about it, tackle the problem together, make a plan, show them what you would do, write a journal, call dad, spend special time with mum, do something they love, allow them to draw a picture about their fear, give them space to act it out, plan time together, make a new routine, practice a skill to make it less scary.
