08.01.2022 Last week we celebrated the release of two turtles back at Cabbage Tree Bay in Manly. They had been in care for about six months. One of the turtles called Ella... had a balloon and a 2,5 meter balloon string in her stomach. The same day of celebration we discovered another turtle looking unwell - "Lulu". Lulu had a string hanging out her butt and was rescued earlier this week by the awesome team at Seabird (& turtle) Rescue Central Coast. (https://www.facebook.com/Australianseabirdrescue/) It turned out Lulu had a fish hook in her oesophagus and line and swivel further down her stomach. She had surgery at "SASH" to get the hook out and it was successful. The swivel and line needs to be pooped out. Seabird Rescue does not only cater for seabirds but for turtles as well. If you see an injured seabird or turtle give them a call on 0438 862 676 (keep this number in your phone). Seabird Rescue relies entirely on donations and it gets pricey with vet bills and fussy eaters in care (only eating Aussie prawns and maybe some salmon on a good day ) so if you want to show them a small gift of gratitude for caring for our locals for all these months, please donate at "Seabird Rescue Central Coast": BSB 032629, Account number 203039.
