21.01.2022 Hobsons Bay City Council has identified 48 actions within the Women’s Participation in Sport and Active Recreation in Melbourne’s West Action Plan to help change access, participation and the experience of sport and active recreation for women and girls. Clubs within Hobsons Bay will have the opportunity to participate in club development sessions that focus on a holistic approach to equitable participation and welcoming environments as part of Council’s on-going commitment to a fairer Hobsons Bay for all.

12.01.2022 In honour of our Club Legend Sue "Melli" Sofarnos a GoFund Me page has been setup by the Sofarnos family in lieu of flowers. The Fund will be used to establish a foundation to support women participating in high performance lacrosse. If you feel you would like to contribute you can via the link below. Thank you to the Sofarnos Family for continuing the wonderful legacy of Sue, she would be very proud of you.

08.01.2022 On Saturday the 19th of September we lost one of our club legends Sue Melli Sofarnos. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to John, Hayley, Jess, Chris and the extended family as they come to terms with losing a beautiful wife, mother and friend.... Sue has had an exceptional sporting career representing Australia in lacrosse both as a player, a coach and in administrative roles. More recently she received the ultimate honour with an Order of Australia medal in 2020 for her contribution to lacrosse. Something that she was exceptionally proud although very humble about. As a long time Life Member of Newport Ladies Lacrosse Club Sue contributed on so many levels with so many people. From coaching our State League Team to coaching our Under 13s like they were a state league team, she treated everyone like they could play for Australia if they wanted to. Her passion for the game and her enthusiasm for life was contagious, she was a woman you just wanted to be involved with. She will be forever loved and remembered by so many people in our community and in our club. Under these very difficult restrictions, we ask everyone to reach out to others in this sad time, share your tears and share your good memories in helping to support each other. The loss is immeasurable but so is the love she left behind Our Greatest Of All Time - Rest In Peace.
