25.01.2022 Its virtual parkrun day! Being a bit cold and miserable here in Newport today we would love to share the gratitude and talk about the 'good things' that have happened during this time of COVID19? No matter how big or small! I'll start - Today I am grateful for the extra time I've had with my son who just turned 1. While its a nightmare on work productivity, this time has had way way more happy fun moments than it otherwise would have.... Whats your good thing?

24.01.2022 Well done to all the walkers, joggers and runners who brave the cold conditions and the rain, to complete todays parkrun! Especially great effort from Tim who got back from 29 degrees in Queensland last night and took on a 5km in 10degrees this morning. Ahhh, the dedication of parkrunners! Result are now up. See you all next week.

17.01.2022 102 parkrunners at Newport Lakes.... great morning for it! Thanks Hobsons Bay Runners for providing all our volunteers today. Have a great weekend.

17.01.2022 Hi team, we just need two more volunteers to get a start this Saturday, can anyone lend a hand? We’re seeking a Tail Walker and someone for Finish Tokens. Hope to see you there!

15.01.2022 Confirming that parkrun events will remain closed across Victoria this week. We respect and understand the Governments decision to limit public events in support of COVID containment. We'll keep you updated as things changed, and if any of our parkrun community needs support during this time our direct messages remain open, please reach out. Hope to see you all (safely) on the trail again soon.

14.01.2022 Welcome to virtual parkrun! Today we are running with..... You!! We miss seeing all of our Newport Lakes park runners each week, so want to open up our FB Saturdays to fill the void and hear from you! So our FIRST QUESTION is....... When did you start running/walking, and where was your first parkrun? Thanks for virtual running with us this week!

14.01.2022 Hi crew, we’re looking for a timekeeper for this Saturday, can anyone help out?

13.01.2022 Welcome to virtual parkrun! Today we are running with YOU! Our next question for the Newport Lakes parkrun crew is specifically designed to INSPIRE US! Tell us about your proudest running/walking achievement? No achievement to big or small, and no humility needed, tell us your story. If you've got a cracking photo to go with it please share.... Thanks for virtual running with us this week!

06.01.2022 Stay safe Melbourne. We’re doing our part and cancelling parkrun this week. We hope to see you back on the track soon. We know lockdowns can be tough, if you need support from the local community please send us a DM and we’ll do what we can.

05.01.2022 Following the Victoria Government announcement on 2 June 2021, the Victoria Government has extended the lockdown until 11:59pm Thursday 10 June. All parkrun events in Victoria are cancelled this weekend. Please respect the lockdown restrictions, safety comes first

04.01.2022 Volunteering under our COVID-19 Framework looks a little different... but still heaps of fun Get in touch with your local event if you want to get involved #loveparkrun

04.01.2022 A beautiful and chilly 2 degree morning for our #154 Newport Lakes parkrun, thank you to the 83 parkrunners who broke ice off their windscreens to run with us at 8am. As always, heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, Jason, Lauren, Lynette, Mark, Cat and James. Parkrun cant run without volunteers, so if its been a while since the last time you donned the orange vest, please consider volunteering in June as our roster is a bit light on. Big congratulations to Nicholas, David, Cat...herine, Rob F, Ben, Rob P, Michael, Conrad and Kim who recorded Personal Best Times!! Huge welcome to the 16 First Timers, you chose a cracking morning to be with us, there's nothing quite like the clear blue sky and sun coming through the gum trees around our lake. We hope you'll be back for more. Several people asked about the acknowledgement of country this morning, we are very lucky to run each week on the lands of the Yalukit-Willam people of Boon-Wurrung Country. Further information about Yalukit-Willam history and continuous connection to this land, dating back more than 30,000 years can be found in this great brochure https://www.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au//yalukit_willam_booklet. See you next week!
