25.01.2022 Thank you to Roger Warn for posting this in the Driver Trainers of Australia FB Page

25.01.2022 We've got a bit of good news for anyone who has been waiting to get their licence: Under the Third Step in Metro Melbourne, we'll be able to restart licence tes...ting and we're turbocharging a whole lot of processes to get as many people through as quickly as possible. We'll open 12 pop-up licence testing sites. We'll employ a total of 380 new licence testers. We'll introduce online learner permit and Hazard Perception tests from early next year so more Victorians can get their Ls and Ps. And we've waived appointment fees until April 2021. Most importantly if your test was cancelled, VicRoads will get in touch and give you first priority to re-book (and you'll get your booking fees refunded too). There's a lot of kids who had that special birthday and a lot of people who just need a bit more practice who've had to wait this out. I know this has been frustrating but I can't thank you enough for your patience.

21.01.2022 VicRoads Road Smart Program Update 08/09/2020 The following email was sent to Road Smart Providers this morning.... Dear XXXX, I hope you are all well and coping as best you can during the current lockdown. Over the weekend Premier Daniel Andrew’s announced the Coronavirus (COVID-19) roadmap to re-opening, mapping Victoria’s path toward COVID normal. From 11:59pm 13 September, some restrictions will be eased across Victoria. Regional Victoria and Melbourne Metro each have their own roadmaps, relating to how many active cases are currently in the community. The Department of Transport is currently developing a plan for return to service for our road safety programs, including Road Smart. We are working with VicRoads, DHHS and other departments to ensure we have the correct and updated advice to provide to our Road Smart delivery partners including what this roadmap means for driving instructors and driver training centres. We plan to communicate this to you via email by 18 September, so you are best prepared for Road Smart delivery in Term 4. In the meantime, for any further information on the roadmap, and Victoria’s current restrictions, please visit https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus. END OF UPDATE.

14.01.2022 Here is a small excerpt from an email we sent to some of our corporate clients this morning, with additional information. Feel free to take the message on board or change it and use it for your own purposes. With the DHHS weekend announcements, I am sure you will experience much more traffic on the road starting today. It is a timely reminder that the overall effect of lockdown on the Victorian population and the introduction of much higher traffic volumes; a spike in Dist...racted Driving and Road Rage (including your own) is on the cards. There is every chance that many road users will have a lot on their minds while driving. More than ever, your ability to exercise Prudence, Patience Compassion, and Tolerance are paramount. Remember the only thing we can control, are our actions. Expect traffic, expect delays, expect people to be a little frazzled. Concentrate on the driving task. Good on-road citizenship is contagious. You can lead the way. :-)

10.01.2022 Help your students avoid problems when purchasing a second-hand vehicle privately by letting them know about the Australian Government $2 PPSR used car check. The check can let them know if the vehicle they are considering buying is safe from possible repossession. It can tell them if the vehicle is free from debt or if it has been reported as written-off or stolen and if part of the faulty Takata airbag recall. Share the video or view the Personal Property Securities Regis...ter (PPSR) website for further information. 01.01.2022 Has your business made a TAX loss this year? Published: 11/08/2020 via ATO Newsroom This has been a difficult year, and your business may have made a tax loss.... A tax loss is when the total deductions you can claim, excluding gifts and donations, are greater than your total income for an income year. If your business makes a tax loss, you may be able to: offset the loss in the same income year against other assessable income, or carry forward the loss and claim it as a business deduction in a later year. If you’re a sole trader or in a partnership and want to offset a tax loss, first check if you meet at least one of the non-commercial losses requirements. If you do meet the requirements, then you can offset the loss against other assessable income (such as salary or investment income) in the same income year. If you don’t meet the requirements, you can defer the loss or carry it forward to future years. For example, you can offset it when you next make a profit. If your business is a company, you can generally choose the year you want to claim a deduction. Remember, registered tax agents and BAS agents can help you with your tax. 01.01.2022 From within this week's ACRS Weekly Alert. Personally, we welcome measures that improve safety for all road users. However, there are plenty of videos showing this technology failing (as in completely failing). Just like we were told several years ago at a Conference by the (then) head of TAC that "ESC was the Silver Bullet! and that the road toll would be slashed dramatically" History has now demonstrated that an over-reliance or an over-exuberance for Active Safety Features can be a little unhealthy. https://www.ancap.com.au//ancap-welcomes-australian-govern
