A neighbouring unit also suffered extensive smoke and water damage. A number of residents of the building have been impacted by the loss of power and have been advised to find other accommodation until their units can be made safe. Approximately 50 residents from the affected and neighbouring buildings were evacuated. It understood the property was being rented however the tenant could not be located. 12.01.2022 ACT Media were invited into the Namadgi National Park today to showcase the hard work emergency services across the country have done to protect lives, historic... properties and wildlife. Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentleman, Chief Officer of the ACT Rural Fire Service Joe Murphy and the manager of the Namadgi National Park Brett McNamara talked about the unprecedented conditions they faced. Brett McNamara said they have never seen fire conditions like this before and Joe Murphy said the rule book is being rewritten on how they tackle bushfires. Whilst there have been losses of around 55,000 hectares with 50 percent of the park affected, heritage properties have been saved. Unfortunately despite the best efforts of fire crews one home was lost in the Orroral Valley. Fire crews will continue their work and the fight is far from over.
