Built in 1874, it adopts the ‘Dunolly’ architectural style ...as does Carisbrook, the next station on the line from Castlemaine to Maryborough. 20.01.2022 Welcome back. The Newstead Arts Hub is open again this weekend for a final chance to enjoy Art Most Fowl a stunning exhibition by local print-makers Rhyll Plant and Bridget Farmer. Are you well organised, good at coordinating events and activities, and love communicating on social media, updating websites and managing mailing lists? And could you help us expand our reach by identifying development and funding opportunities, and helping build new program elements? You need to be an independent contractor to apply. That means you are freelancing / running your own business and able to... take on the Newstead Arts Hub within your portfolio at around 15 hours a month? 12.01.2022 The creativity of Newstead artists unfolds week after week through our online Artist Market. Today, two more fabulous artists: Diane Thompson and Carol de Graauw. Diane Thompson uses her quirky sheep to interpret colonial impacts on First Nations people and the landscape. Her work is both humorous and profound, and each piece a unique expression. Carol de Graauw (De Graauw Designs) says that creativity is her escape pod; it engages heart, mind, soul and body in the act of making unique pieces. Her jewellery is inspired by nature, architecture and found objects. And she makes ceramics too! One spot only left in her freeform loom weaving workshop on Friday 2 October: this workshop is based on the Japanese philosophy of Saori weaving that encourages individual creativity unhindered by rules, patterns and perfection.
