14.01.2022 Dr gray was presented with a horse that sustained a condylar fracture during racing. A condylar fracture is a repetitive strain injury that results in a fracture to the canon bone above the fetlock, Typically these fractures result from bone trauma or bone strain during high speed exercise. With early Diagnosis Dr Gray has been able to successfully repair the condylar with a Lag screw across the fracture and after the correct rehabilitation this horse is now back in the winners circle. A pleasure to be involved in this horses career, a big Congratulations to all involved!

06.01.2022 Lameness is a common cause of reduced performance in equids. A lameness evaluation often will involve watching the horse move at various gaits, flexion of the joints and possibly desensitisation of areas up the limb by nerve or joint local analgesia. Once the area of pain has been localised, diagnostic imaging can be used to identify the source. Once the diagnosis is made Newton Equine is able to offer a variety of treatment options and recommendations for your horses speci...fic condition. Potential treatment options following lameness evaluation and diagnosis include: - Joint injections with corticosteroid, hyaluronic acid. - Injections with autologenous products - PRP - IRAP - Extracorporeal shockwave therapy - Ultrasound guided sacroiliac and neck facet injections - Acupuncture. If you are concerned that about your horse, then please do not hesitate to contact Dr Gray on 0478 090 311

05.01.2022 If it’s a weekend trail ride mate or your upper end athlete, making sure you have the right match for you is important. A thorough pre purchase examination may help identify pre-existing or potential issues. A basic pre-purchase exam consists of Heart, and lung auscultation Eye examination (ophthalmic) Conformation analysis... Lameness and gait analysis Blood work, diagnostic imaging, endoscopic and breeding examinations are optional and offered by NEVS. There is no perfect horse so an important aspect of a pre-purchase exam is discussing the pre-purchase results and how this will work in with your potential proposed use. Dr Gray can cater for your needs and requirements as well as consult and provide advise to help your decision. See more
