20.01.2022 Hi everyone the Newtown Farmers Market IS RUNNING this Saturday as usual at the Highton Scout Hall. Obviously we are in very uncertain times at the moment so if anything changes we will let you know. We look forward to seeing you from 8am-1pm this Saturday. Take care everyone
19.01.2022 Dear RFM Community, We are extremely concerned about reducing the spread of COVID-19 and are taking this very seriously. This is obviously a highly uncertain and stressful time for everyone - especially as information and advice is evolving very quickly. ... At this moment, ALL Markets run by Regional Farmers Markets will proceed as usual The current advice is that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure we are acting with a sense of urgency and responsibility to both ourselves and those around us in an effort to minimise the transmission and impact of the virus. The current recommendation (although we appreciate this advice can change) is that only people who had ‘direct contact’ with an infected person (within 1.5 meters of the person for longer than 15 minutes or in the same room for two hours) need to self-isolate and contact their GP, while everyone else is advised to just continue regular (if not enhanced) hygiene precautions. Obviously If you are unwell (and especially if you are showing any symptoms associated with COVID-19) please seek medical attention and otherwise stay home to look after yourself and DO NOT ATTEND THE MARKET! We will be spreading out the layout of stalls at our Markets as much as we can within each site to help create more space for people to move around. So you may notice some layout changes! Please try not to pack in too tightly when buying and to form a queue with space wherever possible. We will offer some tables and chairs for patrons to use for seating, but these will be disinfected frequently by our management staff and will also be spaced out more than usual. We will continue to post any key updates here as they are considered necessary. Thank you for reading this, and please feel welcome to message us if you have any concerns or questions RFM Management
18.01.2022 MARKET UPDATE Hi everyone, As you know we closed the Newtown Farmers Market in late March due to COVID-19 and the requirements of our new site partner, BVAC.... Since then, like many businesses, we have been very badly impacted and have had to make significant changes in our business in order to be able to continue. Specifically, we have had to let go of some very key members of our team (which was VERY hard and very sad ) - and scale back all of our operations. The outcome of this is that instead of running 15+ markets each month, we are now only running 8 markets each month - one on each Saturday and one on each Sunday. Unfortunately, the Newtown Farmers Market is one of the ones we have had to put ‘on hold’ for the time being. We are very sad about this as we love all our markets and we have operated this market for a long time. Our hope and intention is that once we have stabilised and rebuilt a little that we will be in a position to revisit this decision. But for now we need to focus on the rebuild and on our short to medium future. We would like to thank all of the wonderful stalls and people who have supported this Market This has been an incredibly hard decision to make. Many of our stalls are now in the process of applying to join one of the 8 continuing Markets we are operating, so we encourage you to follow our main page - Regional Farmers Markets for updates. We will keep this page open as we very much hope to be able to announce a relaunch of this Market in the future. Thank you again for your support Claire & Melissa Regional Farmers Markets
18.01.2022 Dear Newtown FM Community It is with a heavy heart that we advise that, effective immediately, Regional Farmers Markets will not run any further Markets until the worst of the threat posed by COVID-19 to our community has passed. This decision applies to all of our Markets - so it covers all of our Markets in Victoria as well as our weekly Market in Helensvale on the Gold Coast.... We know many stall holders rely on our Markets for their businesses - and this is why this decision has been so difficult to make. We have fought very hard to keep our Markets open for as long as we can - including finding new sites in Victoria when the usual sites were closed down - as we knew many of our stall holders needed the time before this decision was made. It has been an incredibly stressful and difficult period for everyone including our stall holder community. Officially, ‘food markets’ remain permissible so long as specific ratios for social distancing measures are in place. These measures were all very much in place at our Markets yesterday - as well as many additional measures to create as much safety as we could. The key has been to continually balance the need to create ways for people to access fresh produce and other food, and the risk to the community from COVID-19. Our priority must however always be safety - for our Market Managers who interact with many people, for each of our stall holders and for you the patrons of our Markets - and so after completing yesterday’s Markets the decision was made to close all Markets until the worst of this crisis has passed. So what next? We do not know how long this period of ‘hibernation' (to quote our Prime Minister) will be, as we do not know the path the virus will take. We are exploring various online options at the moment, including home delivery via our related business, Paddlewheel which is a ‘farmers market store’. We have invited all stall holders in Victoria who need help during this time to contact Paddlewheel. Paddlewheel is already doing extensive home delivery throughout Melbourne and parts of South Gippsland and we are seeking to expand its service area as quickly as we can. For more details please message us and we can connect you to Paddlewheel, or you can call them direct on (03) 9827 6769 or 0428 114 648. We will also continue to post regular updates here - so please look out for these. It is a very difficult and stressful time for everyone. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well Take care! Claire, Melissa and and the whole team at RFM

10.01.2022 Hi everyone Please read this message carefully! We want our Markets to continue to operate so you can access fresh food and produce - but ONLY if our Markets can be managed in a safe way for our community. ... It takes EVERYONE to make this happen, so please read and follow the rules! 1. To reduce congestion please only have one member of each household at our Market. Sadly the Market is no longer a socialising event, we are here to provide you with essential food items. We urge you to also leave your dogs and kids at home. Please visit, purchase and then go home. 2. Listen to any instructions given on the day by our Market Manager. They are there to create the best possible market for everyone. 3. No abuse of any kind to any Market Manager will be tolerated! 4. Practice social distancing (1.5m+), so that means no hugging or handshaking or crowding - keep your space and be proactive with this! 5. Look after the elderly and those in need - they may need assistance in accessing stalls and produce so please help whenever you can (in a safe manner!) 6. Wash your hands before coming to the Market, bring your own hand sanitiser and clean your hands as much as possible between each Stall. 7. Form a single file at a Stall respecting the social distance requirement of 1.5m and wait in line to be served, one at a time. 8. Only touch what you will buy! 9. Please do not cough or sneeze on any of the products or produce. 10. If the Stall is too busy, please move on and return later to ensure good flow. Please do not loiter or chat with stallholders. 11. There are no tasters or samples, no refills of cups, no keep cups and no tables or chairs for sitting - we want you to come, shop and then get home as quickly and safely as possible. 12. We are transitioning our Market away from cash as much as possible, so please use your card where ever you can. Finally and most importantly - if you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms or feel unwell, or if you have been in contact with anyone who is unwell in any way, please stay home, self-isolate and contact your primary health caregiver!! DO NOT COME TO MARKET!! Phew! That’s it for now - thank you for your support!
