04.01.2022 Newtown Flicks latest works! A disused theatre / cinema built in 1921 undergoes an extensive transformation. The exterior shell is retained as the interior is gutted and rebuilt as 27 apartments and retail spaces. Significant heritage elements of the building are retained. The architect of the project, Philip Thalis, reflects on the history, concept behind the adaptive reuse and the final results. This is a cut-down version of a more detailed 28 minute video. ... It's recommended to view the full HD 1080p version on YouTube. If anyone has good quality photos of this theatre from the 1920s to the 1980s (especially interior shots), Newtown Flicks would love to hear from you.
