03.01.2022 It is with great joy that we announce that Newtown Synagogue will be open for prayer services this Friday night and Shabbat morning! The Services will be at 6:00pm Friday night and 9:30am Saturday morning. Thank G-d the spread of COVID-19 has dropped almost completely across NSW and the NSW Government now allows religious services at houses of worship for up to 50 people at a time. The Sydney Beth Din have also issued guidelines allowing services with necessary safety precaut...ions. While we’re glad to resume services, we must continue to be vigilant for people’s safety. If you would like to attend, please be adhere to the following procedures: *** Government guidelines require that we have a register of all attendees. To sign up to attend the Friday night service or Shabbat day service, please fill out the following form: http://shul.org.au/service-times/register-to-attend-service/ Attendance will be on a "first come, first served" basis, so if 50 people have registered before you for a specific service then we will contact you to put you on the list for another service. If we do not contact you then you can assume that your registration was successful. *** Social distancing must be maintained at all times, with at least 1.5 metres between people. In our Synagogue this means that there should be three empty seats between yourself and the next person. *** Wash your hands with soap at the sink in the Lobby upon entry *** Face masks are advisable, however not essential. Please refrain from attending if: During the last 14 days you had a persistent cough, sore throat, sneezing, blocked or runny nose, or temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius, or experienced any loss of smell or taste. Please consult with your Doctor before attending if: You are over 70 years of age, or younger than that but have had any form of heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, liver disease, obesity, diabetes, compromised immune system, respiratory disease, recurring high blood pressure, asthma, auto-immune disease, cancer or epilepsy or other co-morbidity. As per Beth Din instructions we will not be able to serve food, and it will just be the service. So no return to Friday night dinners or Shabbat lunches just yet, although we do look forward to resuming them in the near future as soon as we are allowed to! Due to the resumption of services at the Synagogue we will no longer be doing a Live Broadcast on Friday afternoons, however we will still be doing the Havdalah Broadcasts on Saturday night at 7:00pm. You can watch it at this link: www.facebook.com/rabbielifeldman Warm regards and Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Eli and Rebbetzin Elka Feldman & the Board of Newtown Synagogue
