22.01.2022 Now that preg scanning is completed & you know your yield potential - it's time to think about tags. Is this the year you go EID? If so, talk with us about the right tag for your operation. We can order the tags; keep a copy of the bucket list (just in case you lose it); upload the tags and VID into your stock management program; and generally make life easier.... #makingeideasy #sheep365

22.01.2022 After 24 hours with sensors fitted, Peter removed the sensors while Jonathan recorded all EID and visual ID on a Gallagher HR5. Mark from NeXtgen Agri Ltd then downloaded the ewe proximity data from the lamb sensors. The process was so quick that Jonathan could just only unscrew the plugs on the sensor data ports before Mark was ready for the next 4 sensors. Now all we need to do is wait for the results from the mothering up software to come back. We are very excited.

20.01.2022 Preg testing is one of the most exciting times of the year for a sheep producer. It's a chance to predict the number of lambs that will be weaned later, and gives us a handle on the overall productivity of our flock. Next Gen Livestock Solutions is working with scanners across Australia to record individual ewe performance. Speak with us about how to record, store and make sense of ewe scanning data. #makingeideasy #sheep365

20.01.2022 Next Gen Livestock is pleased to work with Tru-Test. We think this is a great intro into what EID is, and how it can benefit your livestock operation. We work with you to identify your data recording needs, and can then match the Tru-Test product to make data collection easy! #makingeideasy #sheep365

20.01.2022 Not sure of which weigh scale and drafting system will suit you? Next Gen Livestock works with all of the brands - both big and small - and we are happy to help you through the maze. During April we took both the Gallagher and TruTest systems into the yards for the farmer to compare. We can then organise the order, delivery and set-up. All you need to do is supply the sheep! #makingeideasy #sheep365

19.01.2022 Meet ‘Baa’. Our entrant in the Maria Creek Duck Classic to be held in Kingston SA on Easter Sunday. Organised by the Kingston Lions club - all proceeds going to local Lions projects. This is a great community event - & we are really excited to be involved. Competition is fierce amongst corporate entrants for the best decorated duck . . . we would like to think that ours is the best prediction for 2019 season . . . lots of green grass with fertile rams & ewes doing as they do! #duckracing #kingstonse #localcommunity

18.01.2022 Blackford Merinos ewes and lambs wearing collars with proximity sensors fitted are just standing around mothering up. The sensors we fitted with Mark Ferguson of NeXtgen Agri Ltd are an accurate quick easy way to get maternal pedigree in just 24 hours.

17.01.2022 It’s great to be at LambEx 2018 in Perth with a lot of clients & suppliers! The benefits of EID coming through loud & clear to enable better ewe management.

15.01.2022 The Tru-Test XRS2 makes race-side data collection even easier. It features single touch trait recording, making data collection quicker, simpler and less fussy! #makingeideasy #sheep365

12.01.2022 Here at Next Gen Livestock we love working with Grower Groups & Landcare Groups. Why not get involved with Gallagher for your next sustainable ag project??? #makingeideasy #sheep365

11.01.2022 We’re really excited to see the SA government support the introduction of EID on farm. We’ve been working with producers across Australia to implement EID for years, and the benefits in identifying the profitable animals offsets the costs. Watch this space!

10.01.2022 The Australian livestock industry prides itself on its animal welfare standards and here at Next Gen we like to support any research that makes our welfare standards better. Help us maintain these high standards by by participating in this research.

08.01.2022 Jonathan was out on farm fleece testing ewe hoggets near Keith last week. 340 fleeces were weighed and sampled. The results will be included in an index to assist with classing later in the year. #makingeideasy #sheep365

08.01.2022 Yesterday Jonathan met with his new Lifetime Ewe Management group in SA’s Tatiara region for Session 1 of 6. The group has 5 participants from Wolseley to Cannawigara. They condition scored ewes, assessed pastures, did feed budgets and worked through a number of key LTEM messages. If you would like to join a group in the South East, contact Jonathan to register your interest.

07.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon Mark Ferguson of NeXtgen Agri Ltd and Jonathan England put mothering up collars on a mob ewes and lambs at Peter and Margie England’s Blackford Merinos stud near Kingston. The collars are fitted with a Bluetooth sensor that records the proximity of ewes to the lamb. After 24 hours, the sensors are removed and the data downloaded to provide the matches. Jonathan used a Gallagher HR5 stick reader to match the collar’s ID to the Shearwell Australia EID tag in the sheeps ear. Collars come off later this afternoon.

07.01.2022 Animal welfare is the number one priority for professional Australian livestock producers - thus we are excited as you are to see the Numnuts technology enter the next phase.

06.01.2022 A new Gallagher Sheep Autodraft with a touchscreen TWR-5 installed near Naracoorte on a client's property. About 11,000 ewes will go through the unit this year, making it easy to draft on reproductive performance, property of origin and/or age group. More traits will be collected over time, giving the client more information on the key production drivers. #makingeideasy #sheep365

02.01.2022 Jonathan and Peter took the sensors off the ewes and lambs last night. Jonathan scanned all of the tags again and inputted the old visual tags in the Gallagher HR5 for referencing to any previous manual data. Then it was time for Mark from NeXtgen Agri Ltd to download the ewe proximity data from the lamb sensors. As quickly as Jonathan could unscrew the plugs on the sensors, Mark had downloaded the previous batch of 4 sensors. So it was really quick and still really easy for us. All we need now is the processed matches to come back and we are done. Very exciting times. Thanks to Australian Wool Innovation for their project that allowed us access to this emerging technology to make sheep management easier and more accurate.

01.01.2022 This season feed is tight - pasture growth is zero (or close to) - have you condition scored your ewes to make sure they are maintaining condition? The members of the Tatiara Lifetime Ewe Group know the importance of condition scoring at this time of the year! #makingeideasy #sheep365
