24.01.2022 MARCH CLINICS NOW OPEN FOR REGISTRATION In our February academy some of the girls weren’t very confident with contact, they were quite standoffish and not as aggressive as they needed to be. This is a snippet from our last session. They became so much more confident, aggressive and their technique to take @mwardy3 to ground and get her on her back was perfect! 19.01.2022 BRISBANE AND SUNSHINE COAST MARCH CLINICS- REGISTER NOW This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for young girls to train on a program written by Kelvin Wright (Brisbane Broncos Women’s Head Coach). Kelvin writes all of the programming for NLLA as well as coming along and coaching. Some other coaches for the March clinics are Meg Ward (3 time Brisbane Broncos Premiership Winner, QLD and Australian Jillaroo representative), Natassja Purontakanen (Reds Representative). We ...will also look to have some guest coach appearances to events where possible! This is something you truly don’t want to miss out on- you need to book in fast! The day will include Attack and Defence drills, nutrition, dealing with injuries and injury prevention, as well as other pivotal skills. 07.01.2022 With our February Academy wrapping up we thought we would post some of our favourite photos this week. We have had an absolute blast and have been so fortunate to have such an amazing group of young girls for our first Academy. We can’t thank @dexter_leckie and @resistance_ss enough for all their help. The girls were on a 4 week strength and conditioning program through the academy and all those that tested Monday have smashed their initial testing! Massive congrats to the ...girls for putting on the hard work and to Dexter and his programming. We are so fortunate to have the Brisbane Broncos 2 time winning coach on board writing all of the programs and sessions as well as coming along to coach the girls. He has a wealth of knowledge having been a coach in the game for many years at all different levels both male and females and the girls are bound to learn plenty. 05.01.2022 Kelvin getting the kids practicing ball grip. We don’t realise how important ball grip drills can be. It’s so simple and something we can practice anytime, anywhere, all we need is a footy. Ball grip helps us with controlling the ball (less mistakes), offloads (especially 1 handed while being tackled), better control when playing the ball and just general stronger ball handling. Highly recommend to practice this as often as you can. #nextlevelleagueacademy #rugbyleaueclinics

02.01.2022 The girls learnt so much throughout our first Academy. We really broke down the game with defensive work and attack as well as basic skills. Passing was something we really concentrated on and you can see how much better the girls are in just 4 weeks. We put emphasis on the passer keeping hips straight and passing using their core, making sure their arms follow through to the target, soft passing in close proximity, using the fast to slow running method and looking where they... want to pass the ball (they used to throw a lot of no look passes that more than likely didn’t hit their target). We also got the receiver to really concentrate on hands up, calling for the ball and using the slow to fast method when running onto the ball. Can’t wait to see these girls playing some cracking footy this year!
