24.01.2022 "When you view the war on drugs in this light, trying to eliminate the drugsthe addictive chemicalswill never end addiction completely because it avoids a deeper problem in societya lack of connection. There is an alternative. You can build a system that is designed to help drug addicts to reconnect with the worldand so leave behind their addictions." Johann Hari https://fb.watch/1WMEfp0DH2/

22.01.2022 Hey Melbourne peeps, now restrictions are easing Lorrae’s guide may be helpful for you. "The New Normal: Navigating Ongoing Life during COVID-19" guide encourag...es readers to view the disruption of the pandemic as an opportunity to reflect on what they have learnt and experienced, and to consider which roles and activities they will choose to start, stop or continue as restrictions ease. Questions and suggestions are provided to prompt thinking in relation to aspects of everyday life including roles, routines, productivity, self-care, leisure and spaces. 15.01.2022 In 1902, the sociologist Charles Horton Cooley wrote: "I am not what I think I am, and I am not what you think I am. I am what I think you think I am". Although this quote is from over 100 years ago, nothing is more accurate in describing how our self-image is tied up in how we think others see us. Most of our efforts at self-improvement are really just us trying to meet that imagined ideal. Just remember: When you try to live your most authentic life, when you tune out the... opinions, expectations and obligations of the world around us, we begin to finally hear ourselves, this can change our narrative to "I am what I think I am". Ideas from Jey Shetty, Think Like A Monk
15.01.2022 Here's a great pamphlet called "normal life has been disrupted' to understand more about how our lives have been disrupted by COVID-19 and how we can manage this difficult time. You can now access an extra 10 sessions of counselling through your Mental health care plan- in addition to your initial 10 sessions, up until 31 March 2021 if you are in a lockdown area. If you have used up all of your 10 sessions in the calendar year and have a Gp review your mental health plan, you can access 10 more! Chat to your psychologist more about this. 11.01.2022 Where are you in this circle? Interesting to consider how we can learn and grow personally through this crisis in the world, rather than be driven by fear.

10.01.2022 Here is some music I love to listen to when Im reading, working, cooking or just sitting. Mindfulness of hearing and listening can help improve your mental health. Just being mindful of the sounds you hear, music, silence, birds, children chattering, your own breathing, whatever you can hear- brings your attention to the present moment. Just give it a try for a few minutes each day.

09.01.2022 If you're in Victoria, Australia like me, you'll be acutely aware of the reinstated lockdown. Aside from the impact on businesses and schools, there is a signi...ficant emotional toll that comes with locking us down for another 6 weeks. If you need a mindset shift around the weight of the current situation, here are some helpful ways to better your thinking
08.01.2022 Some people can't let go of their mistakes, and beat themselves up instead of finding ways to move on and do better. But there are proven ways to tone down self-criticism.

06.01.2022 Today is International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women "In 2020, COVID-19 touched our lives in nearly every way, everywhere, as countries went into lockdown and restricted movement to contain the spread of the virus. As doors closed and isolation began, reports of all forms of violence against women and girls, particularly domestic violence, began to rise." It is important to recognise that intimate partner violence does not discriminate against economic status,... ethnicity, age or gender. Today we recognise the prevalent issue of domestic violence within Australia, not only against women, but also for the 1 in 16 men who have also been subjected to intimate partner violence. https://www.unwomen.org//compilation-take-action-to-help-e

02.01.2022 Some morning motivation! On a personal note - I make sure that when I wake up in the morning I make my bed before leaving the house. Even though it's a small accomplishment, it makes me feel more organised and motivated to smash out the rest of my goals for the day. https://www.wellandgood.com/motivation-get-out-bed/
