25.01.2022 Are you wanting to improve your rugby skills and techniques during the off-season? Please read what some of our recent clients have said regarding the Specialist 1 on 1 Coaching: "Thanks so much for the session Mike. I've just learned more in one session than I have playing 3 years of Rugby League. I'll be back" (Lauren G) "Mike - Riley received the Most Valuable Forward Award for the 15As. He would not have achieved this without your guidance and mentoring. You have made a ...massive difference and a positive change for our son both on and off the field" (Mark I) "Mike - I've never seen Taine pick a team apart like he did last night at Touch and Oztag. He felt like he was 2 steps ahead of everyone and that he could see so many more options open to him than before. He absolutely loves your coaching. Thanks for opening this part of him - the change already is very noticeable" (Paul W) Let's use the upcoming holiday period to help grow your skills and self-confidence. Please call 0451 267 391 if you have any enquiries. See more

23.01.2022 Dane Coles giving his time to help out a young man with his throwing. He has given some great pointers for any young hooker looking to improve. The first ball ...used is a weighted ball, helping to develop his power. Dane puts an emphasis on keeping your index finger on the ball as long as you can, finishing with pointing at the target. He adjusts the boy to ensure that both hands are leaving the ball at the same time which helps keep the ball straight. Love your work Dane.

19.01.2022 Regrettably we have decided not to hold any more coaching clinics for the rest of 2020. There have been a number of inherent problems with holding the clinics and so we have decided to err on the side of caution. To provide an opportunity to learn and develop the key core elements of the game and individual rugby skills, Next Gen Rugby Coaching will continue to run their Specialist 1 on 1 sessions for individuals or groups during the holiday period and beyond. If you wish to inquire about the holiday specialist sessions, please call Michael Broad on 0451 267 391 to register.

18.01.2022 I compare goal kicking to an olympic weight lifting movement. There are many little things to develop and work on that makes it look simple to the untrained eye... and just like and olympic lift when it clicks, it feels smooth. Having a max kick for long range shots at goal and exit kicks from your own try line is a huge asset to have in your kicking tool box. Rugby Bricks Stage 1, Body Training. 1, Plantar flexed foot exposing the foot knuckle floating just above the ground. 2, At the time of impact we want to have a strong locked out leg, hips, knees and foot. 3, Key cues, hip extension first then knee flexion engaging the glute. How to Train, 3 Second Extension.3 Second Pause and Hold.3 Second Return to Impact Point.

16.01.2022 We had a brilliant scrum half group over this block. Almost all of the players were regular attendees so we decided to ramp up the difficulty of the skill work ...we do with both the younger and older groups. There’s footage here of Peter Slattery and Brad Free introducing some difficult passing drills to both groups. With all passing drills the aim is to foster correct technique and body positions to develop these key ingredients; 1/Speed of entry to pass 2/Stability in the pass 3/ Speed out of pass 4/Speed and accuracy of pass The players pick these new drills up very quick and development through repetition is therefore accelerated. We also see footage of squaring up defenders down a short side, with narrow and wide passes to a supporter. We even mixed it up with some no look passes. The key information here is understanding how we achieve the main goal which is to break the line. Running at faces and drawing to pass. The kids are just getting better and starting at 12 years of age with all these technical skills only serves them better down the track. Take a look at the footage!

14.01.2022 In this outtake from the Rugby Bricks Detail series Rugby Bricks coach Peter Breen talks us through the huge adavantges you get from being a Triple Threat with ...the ball in hand. It is called triple threat because you can do three different things from this position: 1. Pass the Rugby Ball. 2. Run the Rugby Ball. 3. Kicking the Rugby Ball. Every time you catch a ball in a game or training situation, you should go straight into triple threat, as it will give you a great advantage over the defence. 13.01.2022 Another fabulous example of the benefits and outcomes of our specialist 1 on 1 coaching. Great action shot sent in by Adam of his daughter Lily playing in a recent Touch football tournament. Wonderful agility and speed; carry the ball in 2 hands - a great score Lily!!!

13.01.2022 The pistol drill that we use in the Rugby Bricks passing program is one of the most taught drills in rugby. Here is how to do it so that you can make the most f...rom the drill. 1. Start with the ball just above hip height and if your hands are too small simply have it so that the passing hand supports the weight of the ball from underneath 2. Make sure our feet are shoulder-width apart and that our chest isn't leaning towards the side where the ball is positioned 3. When we go to extend the arm make sure that you're not winding up to send the ball further but simply extend the passing arm out straight in front of the body and don't overpunch or rotate the core Repeat and work on getting the ball the distance it needs to go. Tag a mate who needs to work on their weaker passing hand.

13.01.2022 We have some extended vision from our last C2K session featuring our well credentialed Back 5 panel in Brett Robinson, Toutai Kefu, David Croft, Andrew Plastow ...and Nathan Sharpe educating the kids on the specifics of the breakdown. These guys know their stuff and at C2K our coaches as a collective are unquestionably the best breakdown panel in QLD. They haven’t learned their stuff out of a book but from years of playing at the top levels of the game and adapting their skills for different environments. In this session we have them all teaching and demonstrating the basic fundamental aspects of the breakdown. The breakdown requires a lot of clarity and the teaching of its mechanics are vitally important for young players as they grapple with understanding the laws. The attention to the detail is necessary to learn to be efficient and effective come breakdown time and at C2K we understand the importance of this part of the game by ensuring all our players are getting the correct and necessary coaching to take their games to the next level. We can’t wait till our next Post Season sessions and those dates will become available soon so stay tuned! *C2K is a 40+ strong group of volunteer Ex pro players on a rotating coaching panel who deliver 9 annual FREE OF CHARGE (PSS) Position Specific Skill sessions to eligible teenage rugby players at Ballymore. At C2K skill acquisition and development is paramount. The group is dedicated to ensuring QLD continues it’s rich heritage in producing first class rugby players. We are the largest and best PSS group in the country and we cover every position. If you are an eligible teenager then we would like to hear from you because if you are not at C2K then you are seriously missing out

03.01.2022 Great reflection of how important the eyes are in rugby in order to make good decisions; communicate to others and to assist in clinical execution.

01.01.2022 For those of us headed back into the gym this is a great way to start your passing session or even a pre-engage for chest day. What we're looking for here is: ...1. Set the band above hip height as shown 2. Keep the elbow tucked to the body 3. Tension on pre moment before engaging 4. Explosive, Lock and hold for 1 sec This exercise can be done to improve our passing game to not only generate more speed and accuracy in the pass but consistency in our form when passing. Tag a mate who needs to lengthen their pass or work on generating more power in their passing game. WATCH Full Passing Detail Episode Now, https://rugbybricks-detail.com/
