10.02.2022 Another hot day at the beach, the water was such a brilliant blue, car parking got very creative shortly before midday, Jasmine & Gary ran the rocky island gauntlet during Paddle Progress, our Women on Water covered the length & breadth of the bay, seven super keen Paddling Foundations crew threaded their way between the swimmers, and every single paddling toy we own was involved at some point! Thanks everyone and roll on summer Roz, Ben & Hamish

01.02.2022 A busy day at the beach with early morning hirers, Triads, and our February beginner course kicking off. We used the Rivulet for most sessions to give the swell off the beach a chance to drop, and we’ll be back in our normal spot tomorrow! It was great to have another course start up and see the river full of keen paddlers. Days like this make our job super fun Thanks for joining us! Ben, Roz & Charlie

25.01.2022 A great day on the water for Paddle Progress and Women On Water, with the coaches getting a full tour of the bays today! Paddle Progress headed south, with the session splitting into 2 groups, but both groups getting to Blackmans Bay, doing some shore break work then remounts to finish off the morning. Women On Water headed north, with a few of the girls having their first time under the cliffs! Little swell and the westerly being blocked by the cliffs meant the girls got to fully take in how amazing the area is, getting most of the way toward Hinsby Beach before we turned back for home. A super rewarding day for everyone who got out in the Springtime air. Thanks for joining us on the water today everyone - Roz and Tory

25.01.2022 A golden morning helping this young fella with his paddling comeback Plenty of patience & practice ahead but the results will be worth it! Awesome session mate, thanks for the opportunity - Ben

25.01.2022 A day that started on the water at 6am with Moving Targets, and finished on the water at 6pm with a Triad session. Dawn now gives us light when we start the day, and this evening bought a pod of dolphins that played around us for a while, a fun little northerly wind and a fun session involving some serious work combined with playing games aimed at improving boat handling skills. Welcome to spring time paddling! Thanks for a great day everyone - Roz

24.01.2022 Our January Beginner Paddling Course on the 9th and 16th has sold out, so we’ve added another course on the 23rd and 30th. We also have places left for courses in February, March & April. Head to our website for bookings https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au//beginner-paddling-co

24.01.2022 From somewhere wed like to be right now...offshore from Tutukaka NZ heading towards the Poor Knights Islands! Heres Rozzie in action last year. This beautiful place will still be there in 2021 and beyond

24.01.2022 A Carbon Hybrid Exrcize leaving the crib, bound for Burnie after a morning Beginner Lesson. We brought this one down to resupply the shop racks today but it didn’t even make the doorway. We’ll try again tomorrow! Only two Exrcize CH models left in stock now...best put your hand up before we run out Thankyou and enjoy!

23.01.2022 The adjustable Carbonology Surf X spec ski is in the house! Pop into the shop to check her out. At 16kg our display model is slightly lighter than regulation weight, so if you’re a slave to the wave, appreciate the handling characteristics of a speccy, but don’t compete and don’t need the extra kilograms...this one’s for you! We also have stock of regulation weight Surf X’s due on Dec 5th

23.01.2022 On the road and heading home to Tassie with a record 28 boats on board. There was a time when we did 3 of these trips per year, this is already our 4th trip for 2020 with more to come. Sourcing and transporting these beauties has been without a doubt the hardest part of running our biz over the last 6 months, with border restrictions and corona curve balls being dealt with all the time. The planning required, impact on staff & family left behind, the awkward 2 weeks of down ...time post trip, the consequences on and off the water, and the physical toll on a normally healthy & active body are some of the disadvantages. The quiet roads make for plenty of thinking time thats for sure. Maybe these are all first world problems though, and at the end of the day were very lucky to live, work & play where we do, grateful to keep the wheels turning and keep getting our permits. Thanks very much to Brett & Jill from Carbonology, Dave from Koastal Kayaks (Aussie made recreational brand), Andrew from Epic, Pat, Adrienne and the team at Vaikobi, Stew from Think and Andrew from C-Kayak Melbourne for looking after us this trip. Very much looking forward to the next few weeks and introducing you to an exciting project weve been chipping away at since April. Stay tuned and stay positive! - Ben See more

23.01.2022 Some shots from a very busy week at the beach so far Summer weather has come to visit and you’ve all been hitting the water in a big way! From kayak, ski and SUP hire to introductory lessons, private coaching sessions, Come & Try, Beginner Courses and a steady stream of gear walking out of the shop. It’s more than we imagined and definitely keeping us on our toes...but we are loving it too! Yesterday evening we packed up the big NLK trailer and shot through to Launceston for a full Sunday of coaching and demos at Trevallyn Dam with Roz & Rick. Our Kingston store is also open 10am to 4pm today with Ben & Hanish, so the fun continues at two ends of the State! Cheers everyone and see you on the water

23.01.2022 Epic V9’s back in stock! When the time comes for a new surfski, 1 in 4 of our customers choose the Epic V9. One of the most popular models we’ve ever seen, the V9 has helped many paddlers bridge the gap between beginner & intermediate levels...or between flatwater & open water. Nimble, comfortable and responsive to stroke rate changes & weight shifts, the V9 makes surfing & tracking across waves achievable, the hull retaining a high level of run speed for those calmer days o...r a competitive showing while training & racing. May 29th will see us catch up with several outstanding V9 orders, we have also secured a small surplus for shop stock. If you’d like to take one for a spin between now and then please get in touch as they never last long Check out this video, filmed in summer 2020 at Tinderbox, Blackmans Bay & Kingston, to see what the V9 is capable of in local conditions. 23.01.2022 A ripper Moving Targets session this morning, some longer efforts and a nice ride home on the wind waves. Great to see so many of you there, come at us winter! Thanks everyone enjoy your day.

22.01.2022 A clip we are extremely proud to share. For more information and registrations head to https://www.freycinetchallenge.com.au/

21.01.2022 Sunday shop update! It’s been a big week with the team putting in some long ones to get to this point, 2 weeks out from opening day. Our window display plinths have been moved into place by Drew and Jack from Refresh Building and will be finished on-site from here. We have a white shopfront and a cute front door in NLK blue, working very hard to get the exterior painting done in 48 hours between some rainy days. The blue tape is applied whenever I have severe cases of OCD abo...ut the window edging...so you can probably tell what’s on the menu tomorrow! We have 3 large pieces of beautiful timber planned as a T-piece for the lower edges and middle section of the frontage (where the paint looks a bit light-on). Drew ground some of our rough concrete down and chiseled space for some of the electrical cable on the inside of the shop yesterday, and I helped him put our honey-stained Tas oak ski rack up on the southern wall. It looks really neat! Today Roz and I moved in a dozen stock skis and kayaks (cue amazed onlookers as very long skis disappeared through a very small door) to see how everything would all work space-wise, experimenting with a few things to set the scene for the week ahead. All are now plastic sleeved to protect them from dust. Upon opening we will have 16-18 of the most sought after craft in the country on display including the Epic V9, V7 and V5, the Think Zen, Evo II and Six, the Nordic Exrcize and Storm 570, the Carbonology Boost double, Boost single and Splash single, and the Koastal Kayaks Aqua 2 double, Crusader single and Enduro XTR single. All landed and ready to go with demo models on hand as well Plus a pipeline of around 30 reinforcements due throughout November. More shop progress news soon! We can see the finish line now. Have a great week everyone - Ben See more

21.01.2022 A Squall 580 in the Carbon Hybrid construction heading off to Blackmans Bay. Test paddled yesterday, delivered today, we can’t wait to see this one out under the sea cliffs! Thankyou and enjoy

21.01.2022 A glorious morning for a technique session, with the water so flat we put ourselves under the cliffs! I am absolutely loving getting to help so many paddlers who are taking advantage of the holidays and warmer weather, to consolidate their strengths and make corrections where needed. Tassie summers on the water are fantastic! I hope everyone is getting enough time out there - Roz

20.01.2022 It was great to go wave-for-wave with Philip at Long Beach this evening. Paddling for all of 11 months, it’s amazing to see him thriving in gusty conditions. Tonight’s windchop made for some steep takeoffs...we set courses that made us track aggressively across waves and worked on trimming the boat with our body weight to maintain our angles while surfing. I’m really keen to see what another 11 months does for Philip and so is he! Tomorrow’s forecast is just the same meaning our Twilight Race is set to be super fun Thanks for a top session mate - Ben

20.01.2022 Our 2020 #sundaysessions continue tomorrow! Weather forecast looks awesome 10am Paddle Progress ... 12noon Women on Water Northern end of Kingston Beach - Tyndall Road carpark Gear hire available for both sessions Bookings are essential https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au/collections/coaching We look forward to seeing you there!

19.01.2022 Viking mode...Nordic skis in matt black Carbon X construction have been spotted cruising up & down the Derwent River and Frederick Henry Bay. Recently released into our waterways, they hunt alone and are most discerning with their prey. If you can find them, maybe you can ask their new owners for a closer look Sub 9kg, the cutting edge of carbon composite technology, that sharkskin texture, the Swedish connection...what are these boats all about?? Some of Tassie’s top paddlers aren’t waiting & wondering, they’re snapping up the opportunity and not looking back. A full range of Nordic surfskis from beginner to advanced along with accessories & spare parts are now available at NLK. Check them out sometime and embrace the noir...if you dare.

19.01.2022 Tuesday Paddle Progress crew - please book in ASAP for tonight’s session if you haven’t already It’s looking like a big one and we’d like to allocate coaches & equipment nice and early.

18.01.2022 Our first Moving Targets Monday for the season, from our new southern possie at Kingston...closer to the windline! Josh reported an interesting encounter with a kelp-covered protrusion, we refreshed our launching & landings, and lined up a big effort home as any suggestion of a tailwind turned into a sidewind, then most definitely a headwind. Oh well, better luck next time! Thanks everyone it was great to feel the extra roll and get under those cliffs again - Ben

18.01.2022 A V8 Pro Ultra racked and ready to go, heading over the river to the clear blue waters of Opossum Bay. Tassie’s most popular ski ever, we still see many of them out and about, helping paddlers bridge the gap between the beginner & intermediate levels. You could pick those unmistakable sleek lines anywhere. The V9 is gradually superseding this model but we’ll always have a soft spot for the Pro! Thankyou and enjoy

17.01.2022 What a day! 1-on-1s, Triads and demos for both skis and paddles. A full day at the beach. For the morning sessions there was a good surge under the cliffs that could take you by surprise due to the still appearance on the surface of the water, giving plenty of opportunity to test everyones skills. In the afternoon the sun came out, the wind totally dropped out and the swans were showing off their babies to our visiting paddlers, who joined us for a demo session. The da...te says its almost spring, but this weekends weather is showing it already is! Thanks for a super day everyone - Roz See more

17.01.2022 A great turnout for Paddle Progress and Women on Water despite a wet winters day. South easterly conditions were our only reminder of summer as we took to the waves dressed to the nines for plenty of out-and-backs and shorebreak work. Superb! So nice to see plenty of new paddlers starting to find their groove in these groups. It was super to see everyone again, smell the salt spray, hear the sound of the ocean, take a few strokes and catch a few runs. Meanwhile further up the river some of our race-starved Moving Targets paddlers were featuring strongly in the first winter series event of the season, for many the first competitive paddling outing since Australia Day waaaay back in January. Bloody lucky to do what we do and live the way we live in Tassie right now - Ben & Roz

17.01.2022 A couple of fabulous 1-on-1 sessions in the last 24 hours. A little bit of wind and rain last night made for very good fun in the bumps for Bretts maiden voyage in his beautiful new Zen....catching some great runs back into the beach and looking super comfortable! Then this morning greeted us with a fresh dusting of snow on the mountain, sunshine and glassy water, with a little bit of swell to keep it playful. Starting on Browns River we worked on Danielles stroke so she... can protect her shoulders from reigniting old injuries. Combining the use of some video and drills we isolated a couple of components to work on. Then once warmed up we got out through the river mouth and had some fun off the beach and in the shore break. Finishing one day, then starting the next on the water is definitely food for the soul. Thank you for having me out there with you - Roz See more

16.01.2022 The forecast threatened to huff and puff but it didnt arrive until our sessions were well off the water. It is safe to say we are all loving the warmer days......a note for all non Tasmanians, 14-16 degrees feels very warm down here! Todays conditions showing the new paddlers who joined us for the first time, why we love Kingston Beach so much. Both groups got to admire the Alum Cliffs, as we did efforts of varying lengths and intensities. And to finish off everyone got to feel that the water has started to warm up too.....we did remounts!! The energy that everyone brings to our groups is so amazing, leaving Tory and I grinning like the Cheshire Cat as we were packing up. Thank you for coming out with us today - Roz

16.01.2022 Our 2020 #sundaysessions continue tomorrow! 10am Paddle Progress 12noon Women on Water ... Northern end of Kingston Beach - Tyndall Road carpark Gear hire available for both sessions Bookings are essential https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au/collections/coaching We look forward to seeing you there!

16.01.2022 An unbelievably stunning day at the beach! All the indoor admin was put to one side today, as the day was filled with coaching, demos, deliveries and New Boat Day!!! for a few happy paddlers. We even got some stunning afternoon sun with a light little sea breeze to see out the day on the water....finished off with pizza! Thank you to everyone that kept me outside for the day Roz

16.01.2022 A weekend where the wind blew, the dark clouds paid us a visit and we got to experience 4 seasons almost every hour! Triads sessions and an amazing response to our 2021 Getaways kept us very busy yesterday, and today our Sunday Session groups turned out in force to tap into the wind & wave energy coming at us on the regular across the bay. We are ranging our paddlers far & wide at the moment, the ground they’re covering each session is really impressive and we are definitely making up for lost time in May last year! Super job everyone it was a pleasure paddling with you during these wild couple of days Ben M, Roz & Ben S

16.01.2022 A warm breeze...yes please! A taste of the summer ahead at Kingston today as we enjoyed two lively group sessions, full of banter and energy. Yesterdays friendly northerly continued to offer whitecaps for the more adventurous in our ranks, or gentle rolling waves closer to shore for our less experienced paddlers. Developing the skills needed to thrive in spring wind has always been a strong point for our groups, and this years crews are no exception. Looking forward to the warmer, longer days ahead! Thanks for a top day out everyone - Ben and Roz

15.01.2022 Downwind under the rainbow, a super lucky capture from April 2020. About as far south as we take our paddling, wrapping out of the Huon River mouth and into the d'Entrecasteaux Channel on a westerly. There’s never anyone else out there. And it’s soooo good

15.01.2022 A public holiday to remember. Calm water, a demo, 1-on-1 and a couple new to Tassie who have decided winter is the time to learn to paddle. Combine that with a bustling foreshore of dog walkers, cyclists and people having brunch, lunch and afternoon tea and Kingston Beach was well and truly alive Thank you to everyone who joined us and the cafes today, we had a ball! Roz and Ben

15.01.2022 It’s been a whirlwind few days for us, with the first race of the Salty Dog Winter Series being run on Saturday, and Hamish being kept busy in the shop with paddlers wanting warmer layers as the days are getting colder! A super fun shore break for our Sunday Sessions and a bluebird late autumn day for some Beginner 1-on-1’s today. All interspersed with new boats being delivered and the shop being restocked with the goodies Ben bought back with him. We are loving everyone’s enthusiasm for paddling as winter approaches, with no sign of boats being packed away just yet See you on the water soon. Ben, Roz and Hamish

15.01.2022 Back rolling on the river with my Wednesday Triads crew, boy it was good to be out there! A super high tide and some side-on roll which gave way to glassy conditions near the end. A mixed menu with a few lung busters to keep us honest and some technique work in the middle. The earthy smell of spring in the air...bring it on! Thanks guys - Ben

14.01.2022 Morning Triads with Jono, Andy, Tom, Gaye, Richard & Roz. A chilly southerly blasted in while we were all sleeping last night, leaving behind a gentle roll which we did our efforts into and used to push us home. Snow on our mountain again Not for long hopefully! Nice to skip along on the waves and get offshore to start the day. Thanks everyone, here’s to the weekend! - Ben

14.01.2022 Paddle Progress was a very mixed session tonight, with the regular crew on the water, plus a big group who had predominantly never paddled. This meant 3 coaches on the water....and we had a ball! The regular group joined Roz to do a session that had all the paddlers out around the Garrow, some of them for the first time. While Ben and Tory took the new paddlers out to get a taste of the sport we love so much. The wind was light, and the river almost flat, with just enough bump to keep us honest, while the moody skies over Kunyani, and warm air made for quite a magical feel out on the water. Thanks for joining us everyone, it was super fun. - Ben, Roz and Tory

14.01.2022 A big day at the beach with two coaches on deck and sessions, demos and deliveries running until dark. Fair to say that one of us might be a feeling it a bit tomorrow Spring has really kicked in this week with warm & sunny conditions and some fun sea breeze & northerly winds giving our regular paddlers an early reward for getting through winter. We are also meeting and working with a lot of new paddlers which is awesome. See you all for Sunday sessions tomorrow and please go easy on me! - Ben

13.01.2022 Spring is here, and today we were offered a reminder of what summer can be like! Light wind, warm air and the sun was shining. Paddle Progress had some bumps to negotiate as we changed the direction of each effort, with the last one giving some fun runs to play with. The wind had dropped out for WOW, and the girls were treated to a session under the cliffs, and a chance to practice some skills without the security of the shore close by. Today also became the first day for this round where remounts have been reintroduced to the tail end of the sessions....this will remain a part of the sessions when the days are warmer, as a solid remount is an essential part of paddling well. Great to see everyone giving it a go! Thank you for joining us everyone. It was a lot of fun - Roz and Tory

13.01.2022 Introducing our Women's 6 Week Paddling Program With our Sunday Women On Water group having steadily grown over the years, we were recently approached by a couple of girls and asked to add in a weekday session. As a result we are super excited to offer a new womens only session on Thursday mornings, a few minutes away from the Hobart CBD. The new session will complement our existing Sunday midday timeslot at Kingston Beach, giving local women more opportunities to improve ...their technique, skills and confidence. We are offering a regular rate for paddlers signing up for the full 6 week program, and an introductory rate for the new Thursday sessions. Thursday morning will be run from Marieville Esplanade in Sandy Bay, starting at 6.00am. We will have you off the water at 7.00am, allowing time for the daily routine to begin. Thursday morning sessions will involve a technique focus, and will support the skills work that is normally the focus on Sunday. Sunday sessions will remain at 12.00 noon at Kingston Beach. If you feel you would like to add another element to your paddling, and get an incredible start to the day watching the sunrise from the water, check out our Womens 6 Week Paddling Program and register now. You can register for the entire program, the new Thursday sessions on their own, or a combination. Final numbers are limited so register early to avoid missing out...our first Sunday session of the program will take place this week, with our first Thursday session kicking off next week! More information can be found at https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au//womens-6-week-paddli

13.01.2022 From a coaching perspective, I am loving our Triad system. The time spent either individually or as a small group, on a regular basis throughout the round, allowing me to follow up on focus points is showing some exciting improvements Todays session involving work close against the cliffs and some focussed technique work up to Crayfish...half of us had not rounded the pole previously, so a photo was required!! On the way home, with a light breeze on our backs, we did some wash riding and boat handling in close proximity to each other, and finished off playing with some balance exercises! A super fun session that worked us both physically and mentally. Thanks for being out there with me girls - Roz

13.01.2022 Tuesday nights sessions have returned, and a super fun seabreeze greeted us! It is fantastic to have some from WOW take the step up to this group, giving us a range from early intermediate to well established paddlers on the water, with Long Beach providing the ability for the less experienced to stay in water that suited them, while others could get well out into the wind and waves.....and the seawall was in fine form, with good messy rebound conditions to add an extra challenge for those that took it on! I’m so excited that this session is running all the way up to Christmas....it makes Tuesdays great again. Thanks for joining me on the water everyone - Roz

12.01.2022 Today was the completion of the second round of sessions with my Triads groups, who now all have some video of themselves to compare with at the end of this round. It was a beautiful morning on the water, and new feelings all round when I added resistance to each paddlers boat, resulting in everyone heading home with a new focus to work on. Thanks girls, it was a great morning - Roz

12.01.2022 While this mornings westerly blew todays Triad paddlers joined me on the protected Browns River for some technique work. It’s been so rewarding this year watching the improvements that Dorothy and Di are making, in their confidence, skill and technique. The benefits of paddling all through winter being quite evident. Thanks for joining me today - Roz

11.01.2022 The first event at our new shop, come and try our expanding range and get set for a big summer of paddling!

11.01.2022 WOW on Thursday mornings is proving very popular, with another large group of us getting on the water together today, for the first time sharing the bay with the rowers. We were greeted with flat conditions that saw us head up into the docks, getting a snapshot of town coming alive, from the water, and paddling new water for most of the group! This week we moved the technique focus from the upper body, down to the lower body, along with a lift in the expected intensity in th...e last half of the morning. Then finishing off with some balance work....which I have to say was quite impressive I’m loving watching the girls settle into the swing of an early morning session, this week the growth in comfort levels being evident due to the increase of nattering and even a little banter going on! Thanks for heading out with me, and hope to see you again for the Sunday session - Roz See more

11.01.2022 A great picture sent in by Jean, who has been joining us for Sunday sessions this year to add an extra edge to her sea kayaking expeditions. Those whove paddled the outside of the Tasman Peninsula will know there are very few places to land, and often a distinct lack of sand! A good spot here to the south of OHara Bluff looking out towards the Hippolytes and Cape Hauy. A magic place very close to the continental shelf, with classic pebble beach conditions...you can almost hear them clinking together with the swell. Go Jean, and keep up the adventures!

10.01.2022 Winter paddling at its best today! The southerly conditions providing fun conditions for us all! We are loving seeing so many paddlers continuing to paddle into the winter....all you need are some warm layers, a sense of adventure and a great group around you! Thanks for joining me today everyone - Roz

10.01.2022 What a super way to start a day.....2 paddlers meeting me at 6.30am to decide on boats before heading into the office! Its so good lining up a few boats side by side to try, with one of them usually being an easy choice. Then I was back to Kingston Beach for a 1-on-1 with someone who has previously never sat in any form of boat. Paddling is such an amazing sport, that will open up a whole new world of adventure for this person. Thank you for allowing us to help you with your newest adventures - Roz

10.01.2022 A big week in the shop for Max VS, who spent the afternoon fast asleep! He takes his supervisor role very seriously....but today it all got too much

10.01.2022 Three fine skis being prepared for new homes...an Epic V8, a V9 and a Think Evo. Definitely adding some colour to a pretty wet day! We’ve seen plenty of paddlers upgrading or purchasing their first craft during May and June. If you’re eyeing off an end-of-financial-year present please get in touch while stock levels are strong! Thankyou and enjoy

10.01.2022 Our 2020 #sundaysessions continue tomorrow, including our Paddling Foundations beginner group! 10am Paddle Progress 12noon Women on Water ... 2pm Paddling Foundations All groups start and finish at the southern end of Kingston Beach (opposite Ewing Avenue) Gear hire available for all sessions Bookings are essential https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au/collections/coaching We look forward to seeing you there!

09.01.2022 Rolling with Gaye, Richard and Jono during our Triads session this morning. Eerie conditions after all the recent rain...mist, fast current and a river-wide layer of darker freshwater. Jono found the DSS marina walkway a bit of a handful today, but did manage to throw a cheery good morning to a local passer-by just before strategically dismounting to avoid the many maritime hazards in the area. Quite a sight! Good to get glassy conditions every once in a while. Thanks crew have a great day

09.01.2022 A great couple of days filled with Triad sessions, 1-on-1s, ski and paddle demos and a noticeable change in the air, with some warmth in the sun! Today the V8 double showed how valuable she can be for helping paddlers get a greater feel for the stroke, and coach getting a feel of how the paddler is in the boat, an amazing tool to have. Back to the beach tomorrow for our Sunday Sessions, to wrap up another amazing week on my watery office! Thank you everyone for joining me Roz

09.01.2022 Out for Wednesday evening Triads with Lou, Philip, Stu and Isaac. Gliding on glass, we enjoyed millpond conditions and barely noticed a few spots of rain. One of our most evenly matched crews, these paddlers are nudging each other onwards and upwards very nicely. Thanks for joining me it was lovely out there - Ben

09.01.2022 Out with Jono, Tom, Andy and Roz for Triads this morning. Definitely more colour in the sky, those sunrises are happening earlier and spring is on the way The crew pushed hard today, nice work! - Ben

08.01.2022 An exhilarating day at the beach for Paddle Progress today, as the strong northerly winds turned offshore and westerly, sadly making it not possible to run our WoW group. The session worked on skills required to handle skis both on and off the water, with the paddlers doing an amazing job in wind strength they had not previously experienced. Everyone going home with a new skill set, even if its not realised straight away. Today highlighted the way conditions can change ext...remely quickly, and showed us all that our skills and fitness gained due to consistent paddling over the winter months, has us ready to handle the new challenges everyone will get to enjoy throughout spring. It was fabulous watching you all work together once off the water, to safely get boats back on cars, and hearing the excited chatter among everyone, about what they had all achieved today. Thank you all for being so amazing! Roz and Tory Ps - sorry about the lack of pics, there was a little too much going on!

07.01.2022 Places are filling for our second East Coast Tasmania Paddling Getaway in November. If you missed our first one, this is your chance! Here’s one of our favourite places in the area for paddling & coaching. If you turn off the main road in just the right spot, go past the pine trees, through the correct gate, along the winding gravel track and down the narrow path lined with banksias...you’ll see what we mean! Shielded from wind, a clean point break runs along a lonely granite... spit covered with samphire, becoming a friendly shorebreak further down the beach. With clear blue water and pure white sand at your feet, this is a place that few people know about and even fewer paddle from. It’s here we’ll introduce you to your first East Coast waves, develop your shorebreak & surfing skills, and let you feel your surfski gradually come to life in open water. Join us from November 19th to 22nd for a surfski adventure on the wild side, off the beaten track and far away from the crowds. You can find more information here https://mailchi.mp//east-coast-tasmania-paddling-getaway-2 And register here https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au//east-coast-tasmania-

07.01.2022 Sunny and blue...definitely feels like spring today with a very busy ute and trailer rolling out for coaching, demos & deliveries. Get amongst it and enjoy!

07.01.2022 Moving Targets...so called because paddling is a constant quest for improvement with this crew, while keeping things real and having a lot of fun along the way. It might be stepping up from one of our other groups, advancing through the various packs that inevitably form during a training session, setting a goal and wanting an environment that motivates you to work hard, or making a comeback after a long break and seeking a set of fast cats to chase around the river. On a per...sonal level today was my first full-distance Moving Targets session since May where I did every effort, didn’t rely 100% on clinging to washes, and kept good technique all the way through to the end. My stability has been taken back a peg this year, but it finally feels like time to swap the slightly more stable machine for the racing weapon again. Coming back up to form is a humbling and new experience, but a good process to go through every once in a while. This group sets the standard and makes us all want to get out of bed! Making the boat fly along is a feeling I miss terribly and can’t wait to experience again soon. Thanks Sam for another great hitout - Ben See more

Webstore orders as far away as France today, and feedback from a happy customer: Thanks for the leash which arrived today. Super efficient. Ride out the coronavirus storm the way you ride a Norwester and you'll be one of the first out the other end of this chaos. And in the mea...ntime enjoy the extra time with the family. 06.01.2022 Todays Triad group certainly got the best of the conditions. No rain, the sun came out and it even felt warm, almost like Spring! As with last round, each of my paddlers are again getting some footage of themselves paddling now, and again at the end of the round. Its such a great way for us to compare and remind us how we have improved. This weeks groups also getting some resistance added to their skis, working on more power in their catch alongside the timing with their stroke. Its so much fun when we get to refine the stroke and start learning that it not necessarily more strength that will make you go faster! Thank you for joining me in my office today - Roz

06.01.2022 Spring is here and the pace is picking up! Got these beauties heading out to Hobart and Launceston paddlers this week...just a few examples from our new range. The Epic V9 Ultra, Think Zen Elite and Carbonology Boost LV Hybrid. Ready and raring to go Thankyou and enjoy https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au/collections/all

06.01.2022 A Boost LV rigged & ready to go home with one of our most improved Paddle Progress crew this afternoon. As we prepared this one we thought of those winter westerlies, summer sea breezes, technique sessions & group paddles so patiently & diligently done by this paddler to reach this point, thoroughly enjoying every step along the way. Owning your own boat and becoming independent is a big milestone. Thankyou and well done!

06.01.2022 A fantastic morning on the water with 5 girls all making the most of the glassy conditions and a good surge against the cliffs! I love that Kelly is back on the water with us, after a bit of time away, Reggie is showing how you can improve, even if you can’t get on the as often as you like, by doing some off water work with her paddle. And I am now challenging Emily, Carly and M’Lynda more and more right up close to the cliffs. A series of drills this morning, forcing them to use their whole body and trust their balance as the water hit the rocks and rebounded back into them for the first half of their session, finishing with a very solid TT, then remounts! A great morning at Kingston Beach that was very rewarding. Thanks for joining me girls. - Roz

04.01.2022 SaltyDog Winter Series opener - Kingston 29/05 An awesome start to the winter series with 49 paddlers taking on race 1, including our first international entrant Mark Preece from New Zealand and several paddlers travelling from the NW Coast and Launceston. A large proportion of the field also undertook their first race which was terrific to see. There was great depth and spirit across each division, with conditions on the day giving us plenty of rebound, rolling swell and lig...ht winds. Lunch at the SaltyDog went down a treat afterwards! The next race in the series is at New Norfolk on Saturday 26 June. Please head to https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au//saltydog-winter-seri for registrations and more info. Our volunteers at race 1 were Roz Barber, Dave Pinch & Richard Lewis (entries, sign-in & timekeeping) with Peter Clements and family organising all things IRB for course setting & safety. We really appreciate their efforts!

03.01.2022 Kingston Beach from the air. A paddlers paradise with sheltered river, beach, bay and seabreeze options as far as the eye can see. Hobarts most popular downwind courses run past the beach, with rugged sea cliffs to the north & south and Mount Wellington giving us a beautiful backdrop to the west. Its where we live, work, paddle and play! Downton Property

02.01.2022 Our 2021 #sundaysessions continue tomorrow, including our Paddling Foundations beginner group! 10am Paddle Progress 12noon Women on Water ... 2pm Paddling Foundations All groups will start and finish at the southern end of Kingston Beach (opposite Ewing Avenue) Gear hire available for all sessions Bookings are essential https://www.nextlevelkayaking.com.au/collections/coaching We look forward to seeing you there!

02.01.2022 Our webstore customers will be seeing a lot more of these compostable post satchels in the future. We started transitioning away from plastic satchels last week thanks to the Better Packaging Co. For many years weve been re-using the wrapping & packing materials our skis & kayaks come with, recently we made arrangements with a few local companies to regenerate any excess. Wizz Away Plastics put our spent packaging towards production of furniture & play equipment for parks, ...gardens and schools, as well as bollards, decking and fence posts. Polyfoam Australia use our surplus to make eskies, keeping seafood and other cold chain products chilled during transport to markets all over the country. Thanks very much to these companies for helping us out! If you want to switch away from postal plastics or have unwanted wrapping, cardboard or polystyrene lying around give them a call. See more

02.01.2022 We opened our new retail outlet & coaching centre a few weeks ago on the Kingston foreshore. Nestled underneath Mount Wellington where the forest meets the sea, we couldn’t imagine a better place to introduce a whole new wave of people to paddling in Tassie. Here’s a look at our waterfront home thanks to Jeremy Button. Check us out at 11/1 Beach Road between Fika Kingston Beach and The Salty Dog Hotel!

02.01.2022 A V5 roto heading out today, definitely one of our most popular skis at this time of year. The V5 just makes mastering the waves easy, and takes rivers in its stride too. After this one leaves us we’re down to 1 in stock...so be quick! Thankyou and enjoy

01.01.2022 Plenty of colour & life on the Kingston foreshore today and we have these 3 boats leaving the nest. Two Koastal Catalina’s heading to Blackmans Bay and a Nordic Breeze heading to Dodges Ferry. Well what can we say, our pre Xmas stock is being whittled down at record rates and it’s almost time to start planning another transport run. Golly gosh! Thankyou and enjoy
