18.01.2022 Today is White Ribbon Day, White Ribbon Australia is a part of a global social movement working to eliminate gendered violence. We strive for an Australian society where all women and children are safe. Violence against women is at epidemic proportions. Devastatingly, over 12 months, on average, one woman is killed every week in Australia as a result of intimate partner violence Murder is at the pointy end of a broad spectrum of violence against women. A spectrum that encompa...sses financial, verbal, emotional, psychological, physical and sexual abuse, as well as workplace harassment. They all form part of a devastating cycle of violence. We want people to know that it is violence against women is unacceptable, it is never the victim’s fault, help is always available and if you see something you should definitely say something. For a better understanding of the problem, to get involved, donate or find help please visit White Ribbon Australia https://www.whiteribbon.org.au/ If you are experiencing violence or suspect someone else is, please contact 1800 RESPECT for advice and support. In an emergency, call the police on 000. #whiteribbonday #stopviolenceagainstwomen

17.01.2022 Ugh, updates, they can be so draining! Why do they take so long!? Why do we need them? In many cases, updates include security patches. Hacker’s approaches are always changing, they’re clever cookies, often a step ahead of the developers! Whilst developers go to huge efforts to ensure software, applications and systems aren’t vulnerable to cyber-attack, the internet is like the wild west, with equal amounts of fun, crazy, innovation, and danger. It can be impossible to know what’s on the horizon from a developer’s perspective but updates enable them to stay on top of the latest ‘hacks’ for lack of a better word and keep your data safe! #cyber #datasecurity #cyberattack #hacking #security #informationsecurity #infosec #phishing #cybersecurity #computersecurityday #lpo #bpo #outsourcing

15.01.2022 Another day, another top IT security tip from the NfP team. We’ve steered away from the regular stuff you might know, so how about user-level access? In our experience, many small businesses don’t tailor user-level access for their staff. It might be the case you’re not concerned given your circumstances or just an oversight. Appropriate user level access is a good idea for a few different reasons. ... -Your staff has access to everything they need to be successful with their tasks and nothing they don’t. -There’s less chance of an accidental IT incident. -Fewer opportunities for hackers to access a user profile with full admin access. Making it more difficult for them to wreak havoc on your network. #security #informationsecurity #infosec #phishing #cybersecurity #computersecurityday #lpo #bpo #outsourcing

12.01.2022 A devastating tragedy. Is this the lucky country we live in where teenage boys are sleeping in the bin? Tonight is budget night and much will be made of economic recovery from Covid 19 but the reality is those who are in need continue to go backwards there is no recovery for them... #homelessness #youth #Budget2021... https://www.abc.net.au//garbage-truck-death-por/100130540

11.01.2022 NFP stands with the women of this world - they have a right to be safe and a right to be heard - abuse of women is a man's problem. For organisations, whether private or govt, leadership must lead from the front in making real change #enoughisenough #women #womenrights #humanrights #NoToViolenceAgainstWomen

11.01.2022 It’s NAIDOC week! Normally scheduled for June, it was delayed due to something we’re all tired of hearing about, but the good weather is upon us, Australia as a whole has fewer cases of COVID every day and finally, we can celebrate Australia’s indigenous peoples and culture! NAIDOC week celebrates the rich history and culture whilst putting a spotlight on the achievements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The NAIDOC committee invites all Australians to cel...ebrate the communities and people that make Australia so unique and special. Check out the NAIDOC website and get involved and join in with the week’s events. https://rfr.bz/f1c5db9 We also found this amazing guide provided by @blakbusiness on Instagram, which explains NAIDOC week in more detail and how we as allies can support our beautiful indigenous communities and their cultures. We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where our Melbourne offices are based, the Boon Wurrung and Woiwurrung (Wurundjeri) peoples of the Kulin Nation, and recognises their continuing connection to lands, waters, and communities. We pay our respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present, and emerging. #NAIDOC2020 #blacklivesmatter #alwayswasalwayswillbe

09.01.2022 Next Monday is Computer Security day! Also, given the number of security breaches we’ve heard about over the last few months, we thought it was time for a refresh on some of our top IT security tips. We’ve left out passwords and other elementary stuff from the list so hopefully here's a few things you may not be aware of! Today, phishing In the past, it was possible to spot a phishing email from a mile away, low res logos, misspellings, and other obvious errors. But now phi...shers are getting that more skilled, it isn’t always obvious. An easy solution - just be wary of any email you receive. Don’t assume it’s legitimate! Here’s what to look out for - The message is sent from a public email domain, not a company one - No large company will email you from @gmail - The company domain name is misspelled - @nitflix.com.au - The email is poorly written - It includes suspicious attachments or links - The message creates a sense of urgency - You must act today or your internet/bank account/car/whatever will explode! To get a hand on your IT security, speak with us today our IT team can help with consultancy, penetration testing, and bolstering your IT security policy #security #informationsecurity #infosec #phishing #cybersecurity #computersecurityday #lpo #bpo #outsourcing

For our final top tip Back up your data! With cloud applications like MS Office 365 and similar there is often a tendency to think our data is already backed up in reality across multiple programs and applications there is probably a lot of data that is not effectively backed up! Review your data and check what is backed up in a way that you can restore easily if there was a data loss. #security #informationsecurity #infosec #phishing #data #cybersecurity #computersecurityday #lpo #bpo #outsourcing

01.01.2022 We were amazed to hear this seemingly untold story about William Cooper and his connection to Kristallnacht in Nazi Germany. William Cooper was a prolific Aboriginal activist and Secretary of the Australian Aborigines League, who in his later years fought tirelessly for Aboriginal rights. Upon hearing of the Kristallnacht, Cooper was moved to lead a delegation including members of the Australian Aborigines League to the German Consulate in Melbourne, delivering a letter prote...sting violence against the Jewish people. Upon arriving, the Consulate turned them away, refusing to accept the letter to the German Government. Even during the fight for his own people, Cooper was compelled to publicize injustice for people on the other side of the planet. Cooper was a driving force in the early fight for Aboriginal rights, and the road towards reconciliation. He has inspired and influenced following generations of Aboriginal activists to continue his movement. "Like it or not, everything is changing. The result will be the most wonderful experience in the history of man or the most horrible enslavement that you can imagine. Be active or abdicate. The future is in your hands." #justice #humanrights #history #alwayswasalwayswillbe #Kristallnacht #activist #societyandculture

01.01.2022 Continuing with some of our top IT security tips. Today, multi-factor authentication. Essentially using a combination of credentials to access systems. Using the rule of something you have, something you know, or something you are makes it impossible for an unauthorised user to gain access. Options for MFA are numerous, some using proprietary devices to generate a token. In most instances, though you’ll find many of the web-based systems and applications you’re using support ...MFA via an app on your smartphone. It’s probably already in place and accessible to you at no extra cost. If you’re not using MFA, you really should start #security #informationsecurity #infosec #MFA #multifactorauthentication #cybersecurity #computersecurityday #lpo #bpo #outsourcing
