25.01.2022 This! People need to check themselves and their work and learning places - are they safe-spaces? Racism - has never been okay and never will be, we're not 'too sensitive these days' and whining is a word you use when you don't want to hear the truth - and that truth will be brought to the surface, time and time again for as long as is necessary! Neighbours ac...tors and former Heath Ledger Scholarship finalists Shareena Clanton and Meyne Wyatt have both revealed racist and homophobic behavior and language used on the set of long running soap opera. Shareena, a Wongatha, Yamatji and Noongar, Gitja woman who also starred in Wentworth is currently appearing on the soap, and Meyne, a Wongutha-Yamatji actor, director and writer was the first Aboriginal actor to become a main cast member from 2014-2016. Struggling to post anything positive about the months I endured on @neighbours after multiple racist traumas and navigating ongoing counselling from this highly problematic show. It’s been lonely, triggering and traumatising to work in such a culturally unsafe space., Shareena posted. Meyne shared. Racism needs an active and present force behind it to be driven out!
