Two teams - one doing a microbat box & a couple of the possum boxes and I took some ladies for a site tour and we did some secret womens business!! 25.01.2022 ‘Ngarang wal to blesses Surfers Paradise Outrigger Canoe Club's new canoe’ A traditional Tahitian & Aboriginal naming & blessing ceremony will take place at Waterway’s Drive Main Beach (In between Southport Yacht Club & Pelican Beach) on Sautrday 28 November at 9am. Surfers Paradise outrigger club members voted to give naming rights of the new canoe to Ngarang-wal elders that would recognise local indigenous heritage. ... The name of the new Surfers Paradise canoe is Gwondo. The blessing & naming ceremony will be a blend of polynesian & aboriginal cultures & traditions, ensuring good fortune, that the spirit of the canoe is strong and to provide safe passage to all who travel/paddle in the canoe. All Ngrang-Wal elders, family & friends are welcome to attend the canoe blessing ceremony. A light lunch will be served & bring a change of clothes if you would like to have a go at outrigger paddling.

23.01.2022 My next project at Guanaba Indigenous Protected Area - placing these possum boxes around our 200 acres - with special thanks to Ashmore Mens Shed (supported by Ashmore Rotary) for making the boxes for our group. Ive sought advice from our resident Animal Management Expert Michael Dickinson about where we should be placing them and hoping we can put some near our cameras to capture what makes their home in these - although intended for possums we know other animals at our s...ite like to move in - like carpet pythons and microbats!! Let me know if you want to come and lend a hand to put them onsite #GIPA #GuanabaIPA #Kombumerri #NgarangWal #Mibiny #GoldCoast #AshmoreMensShed #AshmoreRotary #IndigenousProtectedArea #possumboxes

06.01.2022 Dont forget to register for our team if you havent already!! *********************** Hey all! The first walk was postponed, now has come the time to try again for the Motor Neurones Disease (MND) walk at Main Beach! Its a short walk along the path to raise awareness and funds for this horrible disease. ... Sadly I watched my father lose his battle with this disease and there is currently no cure and limited treatments, help us raise money to fund this group to help people suffering MND - they provided resources, advice and support and can help other families who are living through this. When you see a sea of orange shirts walking along the beach - thatll be us, making sure people see this disease exists and is affecting a lot of our local families. It was hard to see the first time how many families are actually affected by this disease and would love some of my family and friends there this year side-by-side with us to stand up with others and show them that we care!! Join our team via the link or register your own event! Team: Ngarang-Wal Kombumerri WALK TO D-FEET MND - GOLD COAST 2020 When: 9am, Sunday 11 October 2020 Where: Hollindale Park, Main Beach, Gold Coast (just near the Surf Life Saving Club) Distance: Two distances - 2km and 3km Follow the COVID regulations in place on the day for everyone health and safety! 03.01.2022 Jingeri Jimbelungs! Our centre is a meeting place for learning and connection and we loved welcoming Aboriginal mentors and friends from our local community for... a post-NAIDOC Week lunch gathering. Belonging to Kombumerri, Ngarang-wal, Mununjali, Yugambeh and Wiradjuri clans, our guests enjoyed connecting to country and exploring the beautiful native surrounds, wildlife and centre facilities. With yarning, stories, music and food, it was a special afternoon to honour the importance of Indigenous cultural integration and community engagement in schools. #alwayswasalwayswillbe

02.01.2022 Hi all, could you please share and like our page! We have recently heard other local Indigenous groups want to shut us down and take over the IPA for commercial operations at our site. We dont want all our work in Environmental Conservation to be undone and heavily rely on community support! Lets get Ngarang-Wal 1000 likes and show them who supports our group ... We work tirelessly to conserve the native flora and fauna and support the community efforts as much as possible...it would be a terrible loss to lose this area to other groups that dont have the same intentions as our current working team. Ngarang-Wal can provide educational cultural resources from our work on Country & in the community (since establishment in 1998, and beyond in other family ventures!), conduct Welcome Ceremonies and continually practice Environmental Conservation! #ngarangwal #kombumerri #goldcoast #MibinyLanguageRegion #mibiny Kombumerri Ngara:ngwal language
