22.01.2022 A huge crowd enjoyed the inaugural Deadly Cup Rugby League Carnival on Sunday where talent and sportsmanship were on full display. Congratulations to Shaun Tatipata and his team for organising such a wonderful event and a huge acknowledgement to all officials, players, administrators and stallholders for your involvement. What a great start to NAIDOC Week!
21.01.2022 COMMUNITY SAFETY GROUP PLANNING MEETING SUMMARY Tonight I facilitated a discussion of eight Malak and Karama residents to plan a way forward to establish a permanent and independent community-driven voice. I asked the group two questions:... 1. What type of work should the Community Safety Group undertake? 2. How should the group be established? The sentiment was that the group should be a change agent by reviewing existing policies and advocating for changes that suit our community. The group wants to host an Open Community Forum in December 2020 to engage with the community and invite input into the way forward. They believe that community engagement and inclusion should be the priority to make sure community members have the opportunity to engage in the process to establish their local advocacy group. They have agreed to drive this important work to establish the group, as we all know that the community voice needs to be driven by community members. I'll leave it to those who were present tonight to provide their name and details if they wish, but if you'd like to pass on a message via my office I'd be happy to pass it on. Sorry to those who I couldn't fit into my meeting room tonight. Your input and stories are important and will be captured going forward.

06.01.2022 It was so great to bring together seniors in the electorate for my annual Senior's Christmas Luncheon at the Chinese Timorese Community Hall on Boulter Rd, Berrimah yesterday. A huge thank you to my staff Susi and Tania for organising the event, Themeli from Heavenly Taste of Catering, the Karama Knit and Natters for donating two handmade quilts as prizes and to the Sanderson Middle School Stars members for setting up and looking after guests. You were amazing
04.01.2022 COMMUNITY SAFETY MEETING UPDATE Due to limited space in my meeting room I can only have a small group of people attend my meeting tonight. I will contact those who have RSVPd and can be included and will make sure than anyone who misses out is able to have their input soon. Tonight's meeting follows on from my conversations with proactive local residents who are supportive of establishing our own local community advocacy group (similar to the old Karama Neighbourhood Watch Gr...oup). The meeting will focus on the way forward and not the election of local residents to the group. Please note that I will provide an update of discussions and the way forward tomorrow.
03.01.2022 Local NAIDOC Week events and celebrations are listed in the program below and promoted via the Indigenous Events NT facebook page.
