21.01.2022 What did your history lesson teach you? Today we are launching a new campaign #LearnOurTruth fighting for the truth and equity to be the foundation of our educa...tion system. We know that First Nations experiences through time and the full impact of colonisation is silenced in many classrooms around the country. We are calling for the public to #LearnOurTruth, and together build communities grounded in a shared understanding of our shared past. First up, we are calling on all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to share your experience of learning history in our #LearnOurTruth survey that will be the foundation of this campaign. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people are at the coal face our education system, and it’s important that their voices are centred. The #LearnOurTruth campaign and survey was created by the National Indigenous Youth Education Coalition (NIYEC) in collaboration with In My Blood It Runs documentary, BE. Collective Culture and Young Mob a part of World Vision’s Australia First Nations Program and was designed to ensure the cultural safety, emotional and mental wellbeing of First Nations respondents are upheld. If you are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander aged 16-25, please click here and complete the survey! For background, The National Indigenous Youth Education Coalition (NIYEC) is Australia’s only First Nations, youth-led organisation solely committed to transforming education and you can check out their website at www.niyec.com Visit www.learnourtruth.com to do the survey!
