22.01.2022 Good to see such a large turnout for the Car Seats 4 Kids program at the Guluman Centre this week. Please remember the things that Tim and Micheal said so that we all do everything we can to stay safe on our roads!

20.01.2022 Been a little while since we have had much to post about but the Chief Minister has officially declared that the roads will open on Friday June 5. I will give everyone fair warning. We will be conducting road blocks where we will ve checking every car comign o and from Ngukurr to ensure that licences and registrations are current and that everyone is sober and obeying the road rules. If you want to travel out of community when the road opens you must make sure you are doing... so in safe vehicles. There will be zero tolerance for any grog running or offending when the roads reopen.

17.01.2022 Great work from Davin, Justine and Rowan of Sunrise helping spread information about COVID - 19. Keep it up!

16.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who helped us in looking for Scotty this week.

16.01.2022 Northern Territory Police are currently recruiting local Indigenous people to become Aboriginal Community Police Officers (ACPO). ACPO’s are uniformed sworn pol...ice officers who provide communication and liaison with local Indigenous communities. They enforce the laws of the Northern Territory and protect and serve our community. ACPOs perform a vital role within our police force as they are both role models to our community and also, advocates for cross cultural-awareness across the agency. As an ACPO, there are many opportunities for future development including study, qualifications, service in remote localities and community engagement. If you know someone who would be a great role model to the community and wants to become an ACPO, please encourage them to apply. This is their opportunity to make a difference and to improve community knowledge about policing service and law and order issues in the Northern Territory.

14.01.2022 If anyone has any information about Scott, or if he is found, please come and speak with the Ngukurr Police immediately.

11.01.2022 Good morning everyone, I keep hearing rumours that the road is about to be opened. I just want to make sure that everyone knows, THE ROAD IS NOT OPEN. It is closed. And it will stay closed for the time being. No one is talking about opening the road. If there is a decision to open the road, this is the first place that I will put a notification. ... I will also tell people at the weekly meeting.

10.01.2022 Great work here from the Ngukurr Music hub spreading the important message of Social Distancing. Keep it up guys!

08.01.2022 Been a while since we have had much to post about which is a good thing. But have a look at this video by Davin and Samuel of Sunrise Health. Hand hygiene is really important especially for preventing COVID - 19! Good work Davin, Samuel and all the Sunrise mpb who are working hard to help keep us all safe!

07.01.2022 Hey Ngukurr Mob, have a look at this sign from Sunrise. These are the things that we need to do to make sure Ngukurr stays safe. We all have to listen o what the clinic tells us ajd do the right thing.

07.01.2022 Morning Ngukurr, we have received a number of questions about the road block and travelling. There are road blocks on the Roper Highway and the Central Arnhem Highway. These have Police on them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This will continue for a number of months. You will not be able to return to Ngukurr if you travel around the road block. If you have family outside the road block, they cannot come back to Ngukurr unless they isolate for 14 days. Any essential services t...hat come to Ngukurr must also isolate for 14 days. Do not leave the community except to go to your outstations. This is for the safety of you and your families. Police will tell the community when these restrictions are finished. If you have not heard this story straight from Police then do not listen to it.

06.01.2022 I want to make it clear for our Territorians living on remote communities and inside biosecurity zones that adjusting our restrictions so we are safe, but lif...e is more normal, is for you too. This includes the lifting of restrictions from today on outdoor weddings and funerals; on playgrounds and parks; on swimming pools and being able to fish with mates. I know that grieving normally for our lost loved ones especially is really important and it is something I have wanted to help you with for a long time. The one thing I cannot lift for you right now is the biosecurity zones we currently have in place. Many people living on remote communities asked for border protections, to ensure their communities were kept safe. The biosecurity zones were created and are controlled by the Federal Government - and they are due to lift on June 18. The decision on whether to lift those controls will ultimately be made in partnership with the Federal Government, Land Councils and communities and based on health advice. We will all listen to you. Some of our most vulnerable people live in the most remote parts of our country. You want to be safe, and you want your loved ones to be safe as much as we want you to be safe. And we have shown we will do whatever it takes to keep you safe. The challenge that our remote residents have faced cannot be underestimated and what an extraordinary job they have done. Thank you for what you’ve done to keep your people safe. Land Councils are working around the clock. Workers have stayed in community. And Elders are leading by example. As we consider the next steps, I promise you that alongside your Land Councils, you will be in the driver’s seat. We will listen to you. #territorytogether

06.01.2022 While some COVID-19 restrictions are beginning to ease in the NT, biosecurity areas and remote communities are still closed. If you live in a remote community a...nd choose to leave your community, you will need to quarantine for 14 days before you are allowed back in. For more information: https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/

05.01.2022 We have had a lot of questions today about an article in the Katherine Times today. There have been changes to the road blocks. There is now a road block on the Roper Highway on the Mataranka side of Jilkminggan. What this means is that yhe road is shut and Roper Mob cannot go to Mataranka or Larrimah or Katherine. If you leave this region you will not be allowed back until you have isolated for 14 days. Isolated for 14 days does not mean sitting down having yarns with fami...ly. It means sitting by yourself, alone, in a hotel room with no family, no going outside. If you leave that room your 14 days starts again. You may still travel to and from Urapunga and Roper Bar Store for shopping and you may still travel to your outstations and go out bush fishing and camping with family. All of these things are being done to keep our communities safe! Please help us by doing the right thing. https://coronavirus.nt.gov.au/co/remote-communities/travel
