11.01.2022 CHECK YOUR ‘BOO BEES’ You will see the girls wearing their pink tops for the month of October, to remind you to check your boo bees October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia. With 8 people losing their lives to the disease everyday ... Almost 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with the disease this year alone that equates to 55 Australians every day Many of the symptoms of breast cancer are invisible and not noticeable without a professional screening like a mammogram or ultrasound. But some symptoms can be caught early just by looking out for certain changes in your breast and being proactive about your breast help. How should I check my breasts? Take time to ‘get to know’ how your breasts normally look and feel through normal activities (such as showering, getting dressed, using body lotion or looking in the mirror). There is no special technique, but ensure you look at and feel your breasts regularly. Make sure this includes all parts of your breasts, your armpit and up your collar bone. So you can identify any unusual changes (such as new lump, thickening in the breast, especially if it is only in one breast, changes to the shape or size of the breast or changes to the shape of the nipple). * What should your breast feel like? You know yourself what is normal for you, alert your doctor if you notice any changes whatsoever * What does a lump feel like? The lumps will vary but can be painless or painful. * If you notice any changes in your breasts see a doctor without delay so you can be checked straight away. #alliiancepharmacy #boobees
