20.01.2022 VIC OSOM MOVEMENT UPDATE: There have been some reported circumstances of permitted wide loads being caught at certain Victorian border crossings. The transport companies moving these wide loads across the Victoria border may be unaware of the local conditions and need to remove some barriers that have been installed to control traffic.... The RRV Benalla team may need a forklift to move some barriers and would like to be advised so they can co-ordinate movement on specific days and time frames and manage a window for access of wide-loads. Other crossing points may also require some structural amendments to allow wide load passing. Should your company be moving wide loads and require forward advice on crossing points to save potential delays please in the first instance contact the IPOC OPS centre. The IPOC OPS line is managed 24/7 and can be used in the first instance which can then be escalated to RRV as required, IPOC OPS line: 03 5723 0669 #NHVR

Despite battling illness recently he continued to push for solutions for the bus industry right through the COVID disruption period. Michael was at helm of BIC for almost two decades and before that the ATA, and in that time he was a friend and sounding board for many of us. His laugh and wit will be missed when we next sit down with the industry. The NHVR sends its condolences to Michael’s wife Madonna and BIC members.

13.01.2022 UPDATE: Border crossing delays In relation to fatigue, the #NHVR will take a common sense approach to reviewing the work diary of drivers impacted by border crossing delays. However, to ensure we keep our roads and drivers safe, fatigue checks will still be performed and the NHVR will take appropriate action if a driver is believed to be fatigued. Drivers are encouraged to take advantage of service centres and rest areas to help manage their fatigue.... The NHVR recommends that operators and schedulers take border crossing delays into account when scheduling drivers and routes and encourage all to remain safe on our roads over the Christmas period. If a driver experiences delays due to congestion at a COVID-19 border checkpoint they can use the comments section of their work diary to make a note of this. Drivers should consider making a note of the length of delay, when it occurred and where it occurred. This information relates to both written and electronic work diaries.
