12.01.2022 ALGAL BLOOM | A temporary Caution Alert is in place for the area from Berowra Waters (Dust Hole Bay) to Calabash Bay. An orange discolouration is present thr...oughout the area that moves with the tide. We have collected samples and are awaiting results, which will take a little longer than usual as the testing labs are closed for the festive season. As Algal blooms can cause waters to be unsafe for recreation (fishing, swimming, kayaking, etc), please be cautious entering the water until further advice is provided.

09.01.2022 Shared with permission from the Berowra Community group: Hi everyone, Last night at approx 2:30am we had someone brazenly come into the front of our property a...nd appeared to try and break into our car in our carport. A noise had woken us as well as a flashlight. The person appeared to have tripped over our fishing lines which were left to dry under our carport as we had been out most of the day. He must’ve got caught in the line and hooks as he struggled to cut the line free before making an escape. The only concern is our censor light didn’t turn on which always does coming down our driveway. Can they be de activated somehow??? Just wanted to let everyone know to be vigilant with locking cars overnight. Stay safe. I’m in Cambewarra Crescent. See more
09.01.2022 In and around Bar Island today with both barges operating and Jenny from Ocean Beach Surf Club, plus daughter, joining the small team. Avon Projects, the cont...ractors operating under the EPA Grant sent a staff member for the Clean4shore experience, and immediately the comment came 'what happens when the water is deeper than my gum boots"? You get wet was my swift reply. Very good for this team to see our operation. Simon launched the barge and immediately the scoop nets were picking up litter from the re-appearing floating Islands. The usual drums, polycladding, tyres and plastic items removed. He did remove a bound pieces of housing aluminium/polystyrene cladding eight metres long with 24 pieces wrapped and intact, but very wet. Passing Milsons Passage, locals again summoned the barge with two large bulk bags of small litter brought on board. Approaching Bar Island and Fishermans Point the white fridges were prominent on the foreshores, together with pallets, cladding, plastic items all loaded onto the two barges. Bulk small litter is now drifting into the back Fishermans Point, behind the new Marramarra Resort, and will be picked up with the return of the schools. Across on Berowra fridges again highly visible, plus a 1000 litre drum of a toxic product which was lifted on board for EPA disposal. The falling tide prevented further entry into Cobar Bay with locals advising that bulk litter present here and the adjoining Bay. This will be cleaned on a high tide very soon. Mitchell's barge resembled a white goods delivery van with all of the fridges, yet three more were loaded at Twin Beaches plus all of thee other familiar items. Returning to Mooney Mooney the Econ team received all our "nasty" products for safe EPA disposal. The Clean4shore barge was loaded onto the trailer with Mitchells barge returning to Rob's depot for a crane off load. Clean4shore delivered 960kilos to Woy Woy Landfill with approximately 1.5 tonne still to be collected. We removed eleven fridges today. The total weight removed from the Hawkesbury Flood debris now totals 14 tonne, and much more to come. Clean4shore will be back on the Hawkesbury doing five days next week with pre booked groups. 02.01.2022 REQUEST FOR DASHCAM FOOTAGE: Please contact Krysten McDonald if you can help. Quoted text:... "Please help, my youngest daughter was in a bad accident yesterday (Wed) on the M1 about 5.00 pm heading north between Mooney Mooney and Berowra. Gabrielle was travelling in the middle lane when a light coloured vehicle moved to her lane hitting the rear passenger side of her grey Suzuki Swift causing her to spin around and crash into the rock wall. The driver of the other car took off leaving Gabrielle in shock, pain and very upset. If anyone has any dash cam evidence, please help it was hard to miss, her car is a write off. Thank You to Sienna a nurse who stopped and came to her aid , also two tradies who came running to help her. She was taken to Hornsby hospital by ambulance and had to stay overnight, she has a displaced fracture of her sternum from the seat belt, bruising and in a lot of pain. I thank my lucky stars or whoever that it wasn't any worse. Please help if you can thank you."
